First, thanks to SargeBaldy for his texture WAD that has original Doom textures. I want to get better at this, so all comments, criticisms, tips, etc., will be greatly appreciated. hardcore_gamer Posted May 20, 2007 you wad does not work, i opened it up with slumped and it shows nothing. The file also claims it is 0 bytes in size. The thing did not come in a zip or a rar file. Always put your wads in zip files. 0 Share this post Link to post

The map is pretty good, but I had a pistol for about 75% of the mission, which got annoying after a while. Maes Posted May 20, 2007 Basically a large map with emphasis on details and mixing caves/indoors/outdoor a bit like oderes 2, however the pistol-only gameplay doesn't help, and the moster variety reminds me of Doom 1...throw in more weapon variety at the expense of tougher monsters early-on and it should be alright. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dutch Doomer Posted May 20, 2007 It was an really nice map I enjoyed playing it I didn't found the pistol fights boring, architecture was good but I did found the map pretty dark especially the cave areas not such an problem but placing candles with gradient lighting around them would look great or cracks in the ceiling where light comes through. I found three of the four secrets I exited the map with 90% health 93% armor 50 shells and bullets 81, I think removing both shellboxes and replacing them with two small shotgun shell ammo or an harder fight at the end with the hellknights to make those shellboxes more crucial, like when you flick that switch to release the knights demons and imps teleport in behind you. 0 Share this post Link to post
impkilla Posted May 26, 2007 Thanks for the comments everybody. This is going to be the first level of a, maybe, 10 or so level WAD, which is why there is only a pistol for most of the map. The one thing I was afraid of was that people would hate only having the pistol. The second map, which I've started, will have the chaingun, supershotgun, and maybe rocket launcher halfway through the level. When it is finished, I'm going to post it here for comments because I want to get better. Cupboard Posted May 28, 2007 My suggestions would be to make the door tracks of the trap door be lower unpegged, so the door tracks don't slide when the door opens (it's the one with the green armor in it and is by the switch that raises the bridge). I also appreciated the extra outdoor scenery that you created along the outside parts of the map. Keep working on new material. 0 Share this post Link to post
