"Why Linux will not displace windows"

Recommended Posts

[FLAME SHIELDS ON]
First and foremost, I didn't post this to discuss about Linux vs Windows.
[FLAME SHIELDS OFF]

I just stumbled upon this interesting article:

http://education.zdnet.com/?p=908

While there's nothing too original or clever about it (the author is quite misinformed), the ensuing conversation is much, much more interesting:

http://talkback.zdnet.com/5206-12355-0.html;jsessionid=6FCYa5dlwI8u_JhTLr?forumID=1&threadID=31199

In particular, for a nice, cheap, fat laugh, look for comments by a certain 'jerryleecooper' guy. You will not regret it. Either the guy is a deliberate troll, or too bestially stupid.

Just an example:

jerryleecooper said:Are you saying that this linux can run on a computer without windows underneath it, at all ? As in, without a boot disk, without any drivers, and without any services ?

That sounds preposterous to me.

Entertainment guaranteed or your money back ;-)

Update: ah, the importance of searching through the whole story. It seems that this jerryleecooper guy even has his own website: http://jerryleecooper.com/ . Still funny though.

I'll go for him being a troll. This post was the clincher for me:

JerryLeeCooper said:

Its clearly evident that vista is the future.

One only has to watch TV for a short period of time and see the advertising.

WOW !!

I personally love the part where the young man is taking a stroll in the delightful snow covered streets, and sees firsthand a young deer with a gleefull glint in its eye. It sends a shiver down my spine. WOW is all I can say.

Vista is clearly the future of enterprise computing.

[edit]
Hmmm... I wonder if jerryleecooper.com is really his site or someone taking the piss?

Still funny though. The sad thing is that he is actually throwing dangerous misinformation at the gullible.

Probably the latter, as the title is "
JerryLeeCooper.com Gems from the net guru". Unless he's so self-sarcastic to self-define his assertions as "gems". Then again, who would bother tracking all of his rantings spread all over the net, if not him?

Plus, adequacy.org did this much better years ago.

Thank you fraggle, you opened my eyes and provided me with hours of online fun with this one <3
