hardcore_gamer Posted July 12, 2008 I found this on Youtube, it looks great, but i can't find it on /idgames. Does anybody know where to get it? And YES i did search the forums before asking about this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqaexQ9PAAE&feature=related 0 Share this post Link to post
Nuxius Posted July 12, 2008 That particular one (by Chris Neilson) is old and outdated. To be honest, it wasn't very good anyway. Get this one (by fenderc01) instead: http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=16480 Although not perfect, it's a lot better than the first one was. As a matter of fact, Chris Neilson even substituted his own version with fenderc01's version I'm linking to. (heh) 0 Share this post Link to post

It has exact rvb values for sectors color but I give up the thing when fenderc01 released his because It was cleaner and more complete. Since I read that kaiser was making Doom64 Ex I started learning c++ to make the same thing with PSXDoom with a modified version of zdoom/gzdoom (16 bit hicolor software...) Maybe someone like Kaiser will be able to do it before I do, dunno. 0 Share this post Link to post
hardcore_gamer Posted July 12, 2008 I just played this thing and i am a little disappointed, the MOD is great and all, i but i thought that PSX Doom would be better then this, the colored lighting was cool and all, and so were the Doom 2 monsters in the Doom 1 levels, but the simple design were lame, but what i hated the most is that the textures on so many levels had been replaced with other textures that did not fit the theme of the levels. It's just plain stupid to replace tech textures with brick or metal textures since it changes the hole theme and the feel of the levels to the worse, it's still a cool mod though, and i think i will keep it on my hard drive. 0 Share this post Link to post

I think you 've pointed out some fails of psxdoom: (-not enaugh tech textures -no 3Dmodels (even low poly) -not enaugh original levels -miss monsters and maps from pc -no freelook) so what you could have expected of the last generation of psx games but PSXDoom was made in the early of the psx. They could have put all pc levels and monster + much more using 2 cd maybe not even needed. But since quake was already here guys from midway didn't work on this. Anyway, It has some good points (soundtrack,sounds,color,echo...). 0 Share this post Link to post

Yea, perhaps it would be a good idea to create a version of this MOD that has all of the same stuff but with the levels looking THE SAME as in the pc version! That would make this so much more better i think! Besides the fact it would no longer be PSX Doom of course! 0 Share this post Link to post
