GreyGhost Posted August 6, 2008 Dbase - reminds me of a Borland program I used to use. :-) Destruction! The aftermath of God's Disapproval! My first level it's a long and difficult one. The Smelly Part of Hell The nerdy archeologist & the Temple of Doom Mark & Dave are sad lonly individuals 0 Share this post Link to post
Jello Posted August 17, 2008 Sever The Wicked. Although all of the levels in Thy Flesh Consumed had cool names, seeing as how they were taken from the bible and all. Old Testament God could kick New Testament God's ass. 0 Share this post Link to post
TheLazenby Posted August 18, 2008 I'll stick to official levels here... * "Hangar" - short, simple, classic! * "Dark Citadel" - One of my favorite 64 levels, and one that really lives up to its name. * "Bad Dream" - It is, unless you know what to do. :-) * "Slough Of Despair" - What the hell's a 'slough', anyway? * "Hectic" - Honestly, what other Doom level title (except maybe "Tower Of Babel") immediately brings back bad memories for every fan that hears it?? But of course, my favorite first-person level title goes to Quake - "Ziggurat Vertigo"! God, I love the N64 version of that level so much. :-) 0 Share this post Link to post

So God is like Edward Norton's character from "Fight Club." That's a scary thought. On topic, "Death is just the beginning" I thought was a cool name for a wad. Stilgar Posted August 19, 2008 I think I'd have to second "Sever the Wicked" as far as the stock Doom levels go. It's got a vague yet gruesome sound to it. "Against thee Wickedly" is a pretty cool title too. Outside of TFC I'd probably go with "Pandemonium" or "Warrens". Doom 2... probably "The Inmost Dens", "The Spirit World" or "The Living End". Some of my favorites are probably the ones from Heretic and Hexen though. "Halls of the Apostate" and "Ramparts of Perdition" (Heretic) and "Bright Crucible"/"Dark Crucible" (Hexen) come to mind... PWAD-wise, I think "Natas Ot Etubirt" (from Requiem) deserves a mention because when I first saw it I wondered "hmmm... what language is that in?" and it took me rather longer than it should have for me to 'get' it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Death-Destiny Posted August 19, 2008 Here's more names I liked: "Misri Halek," AV Map 20 "Minus Morgul," DVII map 12, or something, the fourth map without the skips. "Run From It," Scythe MAP 28 was a neat name. I wondered what I was running from until 30 seconds into the map. On a similar note, "Blessed are the Quick," Icarus Map 19 was a cool name. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jello Posted August 22, 2008 Oh, and Tenements. Something about equating a demon infested hell hole with a seedy New York apartment complex is very satisfying. Also the Spawning Vats, Slough of Despair, Unto the Cruel, and Phobos Anomaly are classics. I never realized how good the level names in Doom are. Doom II however, seems lacking in that department. They're basically just describing an aspect of the level. The pit, the crusher, the courtyard, bloodfalls, the waste tunnels, etc... Too many "the's". 0 Share this post Link to post
Jimmy Posted August 22, 2008 Here's a new one: Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobopolis. Meaning: "place of fear of long words". 0 Share this post Link to post

Splatter Posted August 25, 2008 Fortress of Mystery Ooooooh... mystery. Warrens Like a rabbit in a maze. Dead Simple / Even Simpler It really is! The Living End Emphasis on the "living." Shipping/Respawning What's the postage for a demon? Last Call It's closing time. Anti-Christ Deny everything. Burnt Offerings Burn baby burn! The Absolution What are your sins? Bad Dream ... and you'll never wake up. And like several people have said, all the titles E4 kick-eth ass-eth. But where's the Doom 3 love? No one was moved by such level names as "Central Processing (Processing Distribution Center)"? 0 Share this post Link to post
lupinx-Kassman Posted August 25, 2008 Icon of Sin :D As far as Pwads go, most names from Mock 2 and the 32in24 series are epic. 0 Share this post Link to post

TMD Posted September 2, 2008 "Citadel at the Edge of Eternity" From CChest1 wins in terms of epicness Under all other categories it would be pretty much any 32in24 map name. 0 Share this post Link to post

Martin Howe Posted November 2, 2008 Perfect Hatred is definitely the coolest original-doom level name; for episode names, I still think Thy Flesh Consumed is awesome! 0 Share this post Link to post
