Any good tutorials about creating monsters?

I've been mapping for a while now, but I've only ever messed with maps, never monsters. I was wondering if there are any tutorials about how to create a monster from the ground up. I've massacred the ZDoom wiki trying to find one, but failed.

Anyone?

From the ground up involves two stages:
1. create new sprites
2. create the DECORATE for the monster characteristics

Also, if anyone knows of a document explaining DECORATE, than that would be helpful. I've looked at the DECORATE examples on the wiki, but It doesn't quite explain enough.

I just tried this program out and it's pretty neat. I like how it writes part of the DECORATE for you. I am going to fiddle around with it some more to see what else I can accomplish with it.

DecEdit is a neat tool. Thanks.

What parts of those examples require clarification?


mostly, how everything contributes to everything, and how I can twist and abuse the code for maximum efficiency.

I never understood DECORATE looking at the ZDoom wiki. Actually, I didn't even know it was a lump at first :P but that editor helped me a lot.
