I can't install PrBoom 2.5.0 in Ubuntu

I've followed the directions included, but it refuses to install. I've made sure I have all the SDL things installed, I've done the steps as a superuser, I've tried everything. What am I doing wrong?

I've compiled and installed 2.5.0.1 on Xubuntu 8.04. Remember to install you need to run "sudo make install" instead of "make install" to give the installer permission to copy the files to /usr/local. After installing, put your wad files someplace like a prboom directory in your home directory, then run "/usr/local/games/prboom-plus -iwad ~/prboom/doom2.wad". You'll find more options in the readme file.
