Lorenzo Posted February 17, 2009 Hi. Actually i have the hexen 2 cd, but i cannot install the game. The executible installation program doesn't start. I tried copying the /data directory, which contains the .pak files, the game executible and other... well, i can play the game, i can even save savegames... but the program doesn't save the settings (controls, screen resolution...) i've changed. I even tried some source port... but they work the same. Now, my humble questions are: 1) is there a way to install hexen 2 in Window 2000 Pro? 2) is there a way to save settings? 3) can someone give me his/her settings file for hexen? thank you! 0 Share this post Link to post
Kirby Posted February 18, 2009 In response to your installation question, have you tried installing it under DosBox? 0 Share this post Link to post
CODOR Posted February 18, 2009 The files and directories aren't read-only, are they? 0 Share this post Link to post

You'll have to manually navigate to the setup program and execute that. Ignore the "YOU NEED 2X CDROM" or "YOU DON'T GOT PENTIUM 90" excuses it makes. 2) It does it automatically on exit. Since you copied from disc, it is probably marked read only. Select the entire folder, uncheck "read only" and apply that to everything 3) Unneccessary Kirby said:In response to your installation question, have you tried installing it under DosBox? haha but too bad IT IS A WINDOWS GAME oh btw this port is useful. it's better than that newhexen crap. don't forget to patch. http://uhexen2.sourceforge.net 0 Share this post Link to post
Quasar Posted February 18, 2009 Also the installers for some of Raven's older games demand to be run in Windows 95 compatibility mode under XP. I had this problem with Heretic II, at least, so I'd say it's worth a shot given that the two use the same installation package (Hexen II's worked for me straight away, but I was probably lucky). Also after you install it, get Hammer of Thyrion. Awesome Hexen II port. EDIT: I was beat to the punch with that tip it seems ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
