Changing the chaingun fire sound in Doomsday

Is there a way to force the chaingun to use a different fire sound than the pistol. It seems to be a fairly easy thing to do in Zdoom, but I use Doomsday and I cannot figure out how to do it.

Whats the reason for this btw? I'm sure you probably told me at some point and I'm not at my dev machine right now.

Me?

It's a case of the firing actions for hitscan weapons being hardcoded to use specific sound definitions. In this case, both the Pistol and Chaingun are set to use the same definition.

Great, I just wanted to change the chaingun fire sound while keeping the original sound on the pistol, it doesn't work for a machine gun.

Any news on the Doomsday sound system?

Doomsday 1.9.0-beta7 is solely about the implementation of unified networking and related features. The audio system work hasn't yet been scheduled but it is likely that it will feature in beta8.
