a XWE problem

Recommended Posts

hi. im new to wad editing and i'm having trouble getting the wad editor WXE to work.
Basicly, every time i start it up, a message pops up saying "failed to create key wad_auto-file\defualtIcon." When i press ok, ANOTHER message pops up saying "list index out of bounds(0)". when i try clicking on new or open it shows the same error exept with a different number in the brackets.
can you guys help me get it working properly? Thanks.

I haven't encountered the first error message before though the second one usually appears when XWE can't make sense of a wad - which could be corrupted. Going into "Options/General" and un-ticking "Reopen last file on startup" might make the problem go away.

I have a similar problem if I start XWE from under other user in windows, not from that of which I installed XWE

I found out how to solve it. you have to run the application as an administrator by right clicking the program and click "run as administrator". i hope thats cleared some problems. :-)
