ultdoomer Posted May 24, 2009 Simple question: What does the .ico file in the Action Doom zip do and is it needed for gameplay? 0 Share this post Link to post
Edward850 Posted May 24, 2009 An .ico file is an icon image file. 40x40 and usually uncompressed. 0 Share this post Link to post
Super Jamie Posted May 24, 2009 Actually, an .ico is usually 32x32 with 256 colors, though there does exist in the spec of the file the ability to include 16x16 and larger sizes, and also versions for lesser color depths. I've never seen an icon be 40x40 0 Share this post Link to post
Edward850 Posted May 24, 2009 Ugh, I knew I wouldn't get the size right. 0 Share this post Link to post
Antidote Posted May 24, 2009 It can go up to 64x64, 128x128, or sometimes 256x256. Mostly though they are kept at 32x32 or 16x16 (all multiples of 8). 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted May 24, 2009 It's not required for gameplay AFAIK but can be applied to desktop shortcuts or used as the default icon for specific filetypes. 0 Share this post Link to post
leileilol Posted May 24, 2009 there is no 40x40 icons. The format is usually 16x16, 32x16 (2 color monochrome only icons), 32x32 and 48x48 (Large icons). 256x256 icons are only for Vista. 0 Share this post Link to post
