what is doom. to you

Recommended Posts

what does doom mean to you? how has it and how is it part of your life? for me doom is a great stress relief at the end of the day. It is also still one of my favorite passtimes. if i wanted i could play for hours on end like the old days. I use to spend 4 hours at a time in my moms basement on a 486 system. back then the basement was a bit more creepy with the sounds of imps, barons, and lost souls echoing off the high stacks of boxes. I swear sometimes when the computer was off i could hear imps grunting. doom GBA also got me introuble at school a few time

Doom, to me, was a very unique time. I'd say I was going fishing with my friends and we'd just smoke and drink. The extension to the house (that I lived in at the time) wasn't heated so I had a kerosene heater on the floor and I sorta miss playing UDoom without that stank around. I remember inviting people over to watch me play pwads. We had our share of fun with Hexen and Duke3D as well.

Doom, to me, is a very excellent game that devoured all of my free time for a very long time. I still love wooden themed levels the most because they seem to radiate the exact seem feeling of warmth that I always felt in that room.

What does Doom mean to me? A lot of things. I remember the original Doom shareware. It just blew me away. The graphics were awesome for the time. The sound was cool. I never really did like the music, though.
It brings back to me all kinds of memories-my first PWAD, DeePSea, Doom2-all of it good.
I now have this thing for Doom E1 WADs since they directly mimic the original Doom E1 style-which is hooked me and lured me in.
Now, many years later, I can't remember what it was I saw in those pixelly graphics, or the 2D monsters. All I know is that was, and still is, fun, most importantly.

Doom, to me, with the keyboard ONLY, is a fine art and should fulfill the fine art requirement for graduation.
