DuckReconMajor Posted August 15, 2009 Find a file hosting website. I use Rapidshare (make a free account so people can download your file as many times as they want). Then make a thread in the WADs & Mods forum, and post a link to your level there. Post screenshots as well, it gives people more incentive to download your wad. Once you think your levels are good enough to submit to the /idgames archive, read this. 0 Share this post Link to post

To elaborate: Rapidshare is great for beta testing (or just general critiquing) of your work before you make it "official" by submitting it to the archive. There are a lot of bad maps in the archive, so when people use Rapidshare to improve maps before officially releasing them, it helps the overall quality of the archive. 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted August 15, 2009 If you just need a place to put your maps for a few days for testing and whatnot, I'd recommend Speedyshare.com rather than RapidShare. It'll be deleted after a week or so, but people won't have to put up with an annoying wait time to download it. 0 Share this post Link to post
ArmouredBlood Posted August 15, 2009 Or you can use wadhost and copy the link location, and not have to worry about dl waits or deleted entries ... just make sure it's zipped. 0 Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted August 15, 2009 Free hotlinking site for wads? Awesome. But how do they deal with running out of names? Just start appending "2" to the end of .zip names? 0 Share this post Link to post
ArmouredBlood Posted August 15, 2009 I accidentally uploaded the same zip twice once, and it put a space then a 1 next to it, so ya it does the number++ thing. I just added version numbers, say wad.v1.zip // wad.v2.zip or wad.B1.zip //wad.B2.zip since I was kind of beta-ing those maps. Just go to here and scroll down to the AB. section and you'll see how I did it. I forgot to put AB. first a few times though and had to search for some uploads >.< 0 Share this post Link to post
