If you could enhance the Doom AI in anyway, what would it be?

Recommended Posts

Better pathfinding/navigation would be the only thing I'd change. Sometimes I've even noticed that demons will randomly seem to hit a barrier (something like this famous bug) and run around randomly for no apparent reason.

"Hint" Things (as in Half-Life 2) might help, in some situations; in Gez's situation putting one in the wall gap might give the demon some better direction.

On the other hand, I've always been a bit impressed with the monsters' tracking skills in Doom. I've had monsters follow me into interesting areas.

Actually, I would change something: the enemies shouldn't always be aware of your position and shouldn't just run around next to the wall in their room that's closest to your position. Not only is this kind of stupid and pointless, it often results in me opening a door to a shitload of monsters that were alerted and waiting for me, which usually leads to me pissing my pants.

I don't get what you mean. The two zombies at the beginning of MAP01 aren't aware of your position until you are within their sight or open fire.

That's because they're deaf and haven't been alerted yet.
