Weapon mod tutorial

Recommended Posts

hay guise how do i shot doom

You have several options, but your choices are limited to what port you intend to use.

*I could be wrong, but I believe most ports (including Doom/2.exe) support DeHacked, but you are limited to replacing existing weapons (i.e. you cannot add to the classic arsenal, only replace weapons). There are many other limitations.

*For ZDoom based ports, you can use DECORATE

I'm sure others can tell you about other port options, but I figure those would be the two you would be most interested in. If you want DECORATE tutorials you should ask on the ZDoom forums.

I may not be a specialist or have NO experience in this subject, but I believe...

1. As Nomad said, those are the SP you are using.
2. To Draw and add frames to your weapon, use MSPaint or something that can produce such graphics with proper tools.

The Decorate part is AFTER you make the sprite(s) so you can figure out what it does.

thank you for trying but i need it dumbed down to pretty simple.

Okay, then. "Forget it."

Making a new weapon is nothing difficult, if you are willing to spend some effort learning how to do it. (And I'd definitely recommend DECORATE for the beginner. It's not the only way, there are other content definition languages in other ports, but this one is by far the simplest to use and learn.)

If you want people to "dumb things down" for you, it means that you're not wanting to "smart yourself up". Given that weapons are the trickiest custom actors to make (a simple weapon is more complex than a simple monster, there's more caveats and gotchas), you do not stand any chance to ever make one unless you change your attitude.

Truth.

I came here over a month ago with virtually NO Decorate knowledge at all, but through study and work I have a far better grasp than I did previously.
