You know what's scariest of all about this? Most of this information is already out of date.

Edit: Corrected link.

Just an observation about the section that's in the preview thumbnail: leaping from "Internet" to "Facebook" is hardly the same leap from "Radio" to "TV", considering Facebook is on the internet and as soon as it was launched anybody could spend a minute making an account, whereas with TV it had to invented, improved, made cheaper and then people needed a reason to shell out in the first place (over here it was the Queen's coronation - yeah, the same monarch for that long!, it's mind boggling in itself)

Indeed. Facebook is just a tiny bit of the internet. It is interesting that my dad's computer was one among a million on the internet in 1992.

Why is statistical shock and awe so popular on the net, anyway?

For that matter, they were comparing apples to oranges all the way, when throwing in devices such as the iPod (personal portable music device) with the TV, Radio and Internet (which at least are used for communication, even if the Internet can't be conceptualized as a single device).

It's more a comparison of how quickly new technologies are adopted today, which is also a merit of how marketing and the global business model evolved.

For example, the concept of "super techno gizmos you can only find in Akihabara - Tokyo, Japan" is long dead and impresses none anymore. It's usually a matter of months before item X is sold in country Y, rather than years or even never during the 70s-80s-90s and even a good part of the 00s.
