NaturalTvventy Posted November 26, 2009 I can't figure out how to add a custom monster to my wad. I tried following this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbQNuGvBreo but i get an error when i try to merge WADS. 'deuSF.exe' won't run in windows 7 it appears. i've tried fooling around with SLumped but apparently i don't know what i'm doing. help? NT 0 Share this post Link to post
reki107 Posted November 26, 2009 If you mean you're using doom1.wad, this is the shareware version of doom, and cannot be edited. 0 Share this post Link to post

GreyGhost Posted November 27, 2009 First of all - merging custom monsters into an IWAD (as done in that tutorial) is stupid and unneccesary, merge them into your map PWAD instead. DeuSF has to be run from a command prompt, if that doesn't work you'll probably have to install DOSBox. I don't think SLumpEd will let you modify IWADs, XWE will but saves them as PWADs. Found another thread which mentions that tutorial - it might answer a few questions. 0 Share this post Link to post

This cannot be dittoed enough. The vanilla Doom engine has some limitations or design flaws that made iwad merging necessary for some kind of modifications; but no modern port requires to do so. ZDoom in particular is extremely flexible in this regard. 0 Share this post Link to post

Zetta Posted November 29, 2009 Never modify an I-wad, NEVER. If you findyou must, make a copy and rename it. Although there is really no point consideringyou can make a new PWAD. 0 Share this post Link to post
