Hellbent Posted January 9, 2010 stranger things hvae been reported, but I know not what. My laptop sound doesn't work when the screen is in normal position. IF I close the screen so that the laptop is nearly shut, the sound works. When I open the lid/screen the sound stops coming out of the speakers. I have no idea why. Computer has sustained minor bumps, but nothing too major. Any ideas? it's a dell inspiron 700m (very small notebook) and is several years old. 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted January 9, 2010 Most likely metal fatigue in the speaker lead. Probably repairable though I'd get a quote first, in the meantime - plug in a pair of headphones. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bucket Posted January 9, 2010 Yeah, that sounds like a hardware problem. The internal wires have worn thin and only connect when in a certain position. It happens a lot with power supply cords. You're probably not a DIY kind of guy. At least not on that level. 0 Share this post Link to post
Hellbent Posted January 9, 2010 i plugged in headphones and the sound works. The computer is actually still under warranty since the person I bought it from had put an extended warranty on it. Thanks for the replies. 0 Share this post Link to post
