jukenukem Posted January 16, 2010 Hiya. I am a newbie to Doom Builder. I'm trying to make an outdoors level, so I set the ceilings to F_SKY but I can't make the outer walls invisible. Please halp! EDIT: I'm using Doom2 format! 0 Share this post Link to post
jukenukem Posted January 16, 2010 No responses yet. ;-; Well, I figured out I could just leave the wall untextured, and it works in ZDoom, but I'm worried this will cause compatibility issues or something with other ports. D: Someone say something. ;-; 0 Share this post Link to post
PhilibusMo Posted January 16, 2010 you need to make a thin sector the length of the wall you want to have a 'sky box effect' on and then lower the cieling of the sector to the point you want the wall to cut off. The cieling of that sector should be F_SKY3 (If that name isn't completely correct then I just mean the bog standard sky flat). Have a look at the outer wall of doom 2 MAP12 'the factory' to see what I mean. Hope that has answered your question. 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted January 16, 2010 Patience is a virtue. ;-) This thread and taking a closer look at how wrap-around skies are done in Doom 2's Map01 should also help. 0 Share this post Link to post
CodeImp Posted January 16, 2010 This is a general editing question and hardly has anything to do with Doom Builder specifically. I'm moving this to the right forum, maybe you have more luck there. 0 Share this post Link to post
SonicIce Posted January 17, 2010 Tell us or show us exactly what you mean. It would look strange to just have the ground end abruptly into nothingness, so theres usually a wall a few feet high before the sky starts. Here's an example: http://jord.nm.ru/doom/skyz.wad 0 Share this post Link to post
Kagemaru_H Posted January 17, 2010 It's a lot easier in Hexen format with the ability to create line horizons, but whatever. 0 Share this post Link to post
jukenukem Posted January 17, 2010 Thanks guys! I finally figured it out using that example. Now can anyone tell me how I can choose which sky texture to use? Sorry. Last question, I swear. >.< 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted January 17, 2010 Use F_SKY1, the game engine will replace that with whichever sky is appropriate for the map number. 0 Share this post Link to post
