dr_st Posted January 20, 2002 Yes! Just today, about four years after I... erm... obtained Final DOOM, I finished its first part! I actually started playing soon after I got it. Unlike with DOOM/DOOM2, where I first blazed through the levels with cheats on skill 1 (pathetic), I've made the correct decision and started fair play on UV (no NM for me, please). At first it went well, I've finished the first half, and secret level 31 pretty quick, and then I got stuck for 2 years or so in the beginning of 32. I don't know why, I just didn't want to play. Played all sorts of games, but not DOOM. Eventually I decided to return to TNT and beat it, but it didn't go too well, it was more like: pass 1-2 levels, get stuck for 1-2 months without the will to play. And yesterday I finally forced myself to complete MAP27: Mount Pain. After that all was fast and easy. 28 is really short, and 29 isn't too long either, and when you're in the last level, your will to beat the game is so strong, that there's no way you're gonna postpone it. Yay for me! Now I guess it'll take me 5-10 years to beat Plutonia, and by the age of 50 I hope to finally play all the megawads I have in my collection. But first I have these exams coming up. Wish me luck. 0 Share this post Link to post
sleepy_boy Posted January 20, 2002 good for you. exams suck. I have them too. 0 Share this post Link to post
Espi Posted January 20, 2002 I've not had time to play most of the wads I've downloaded recently either. Now that I think of it, I just might go and play all those today. Well, at least some of them. 0 Share this post Link to post
dr_st Posted January 20, 2002 Who else thinks that "Shawn's Got The Shotgun" (Dead Simple music) is a killer track? 0 Share this post Link to post
Shaviro Posted January 20, 2002 dr_st: It's one of the best (d_shawn) :) 0 Share this post Link to post
pritch Posted January 20, 2002 yes, it is. Congrats on finishing TNT, but it's an easy ride compared to Plutonia :( Also, Plutonia may bore you to 0% health, so watch out ;) 0 Share this post Link to post
dr_st Posted January 20, 2002 yes, it is. Congrats on finishing TNT, but it's an easy ride compared to Plutonia :( Also, Plutonia may bore you to 0% health, so watch out ;) That figures. I think it's pretty logical to play them in this order, from easiest (DOOM1) to hardest (Plutonia). I've been to the last level in Plutonia, where you have to kill The Icon of Sin with a Cyberdemon in your face and monsters all over ya. That's pure evil. I think Plutonia's gonna be a good preparation for ultra-hard WADs like AV and HR. That is if I get myself to finish it. I already done MAP01: Congo, so that's a start. 0 Share this post Link to post

Shaviro Posted January 21, 2002 Ep4 was decent. Too repetitive if you ask me. I can only stand looking at g_stone for so long. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted January 21, 2002 I liked Episode 4...why? -Marble textures are my favorite -The sky kicked ass -Very good level design -Managed to create a whole new setting with old textures + monsters -Chalenging, yet not too hard It probably is my favorite of the four. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fredrik Posted January 21, 2002 Ep4 is definitely the best looking of all DOOM episodes (including DOOM2). 0 Share this post Link to post
elbryan42 Posted January 21, 2002 Congrats. You'll never play thru Plutonia though. You'll die of boredom from the terrible levels first. 0 Share this post Link to post
dr_st Posted January 21, 2002 I liked Episode 4...why? -The sky kicked ass What? The yellow thing with the red thingie? You call that a sky? Take a look at Final DOOM TNT SKY2. Now that's a real sky. 0 Share this post Link to post
