Flesh420 Posted April 20, 2010 Is a AMD cpu 955 socket quad core compatible with a (Mobo-->)Asus M2N-SLI(not deluxe)940 socket? I keep reading how they are backwards compatible with a AM2+ but I can not get a straight answer for AM2. Which is what I have. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!! 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted April 20, 2010 If you mean the Phenom II X4 955, if it's only backwards compatible to AM2+, then that's what it will work in (and AM3 of course). It won't work in regular AM2. 0 Share this post Link to post
Flesh420 Posted April 20, 2010 What about this? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103471&cm_re=amd_phenom_ii_x4_940-_-19-103-471-_-Product Cpu-z is telling me my socket is am2(940) so isnt that the same as above? All of this socket backwards compatibility nonsense has got me all confused and I really do not want to buy a new Mobo just for a quad core right at the moment. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted April 20, 2010 Alls I know is that my Phenom II works with my motherboard, and it's awesome. 0 Share this post Link to post
Bloodshedder Posted April 20, 2010 Socket AM2 is not the same as AM2+. It won't work. 0 Share this post Link to post
Belial Posted April 20, 2010 Also some AM2+ mobos may only be compatible up to 945 due to power requirements (like mine) so check that also. 0 Share this post Link to post
