Situations where monsters get stuck

Now I'm aware of a couple of situations where monsters get stuck, but this particular situation I have not seen before.



This is vanilla map05 from doom2.wad, the modifications seen in the screenshot do not effect gameplay. And that chaingunner was pretty stuck at the time. Later I came back, through the red door behind it, and when I moved closer it became unstuck again and attacked.

So the question is; Is this known to happen, or what?

That's probably right. I hadn't thought about the sergeants on the other side of the door.

I can tell you there was no frantic rubbing ;)
The chaingunner was stationary, just playing through its walking animations.

You can disable this "bug" in ports, but it has its uses. You know what happens if you flee through a locked door, and later have to return the same way? A wall of monsters will be next to the door, ready to smash you.

There's always fun to be had changing monsters masses, giving them tons of HP and then checking don't get stuck on ledges in zdoom.

Ever watched a Baron of Hell fly when you BFG it?
