new decorations and simple things

I ve sussed out how to draw maps and put new textures in them...but I cant find guidance on creating or replacing (either will do) the things descrbed as obstacles or decorations. I basically want to make some trees for my game level.

I'm aware that (I think) you have to use the decorate function for them to work in zdoom but I cant find a newbie tutorial on this...any pointers please??

I'll have a look at that tree in a second...

Should it be straightforward to change an existing graphic - say one of the trees in the doom wad - and to do this without having to change the
decorate code - assuming its the same size?

I say this because I tried this and it worked except that my new graphic didnt stay in one place - it seemed to follow the player as they ran about...

The problem is the sprite offsets. Try giving it the same offset as the tree (or other decoration) you are replacing.

Both are possible, but it's a lot simpler to set offset in Slumped/XWE than to use the offset keyword in DECORATE code.
