jossiejojo Posted May 4, 2010 I ve sussed out how to draw maps and put new textures in them...but I cant find guidance on creating or replacing (either will do) the things descrbed as obstacles or decorations. I basically want to make some trees for my game level. I'm aware that (I think) you have to use the decorate function for them to work in zdoom but I cant find a newbie tutorial on this...any pointers please?? thanks 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted May 4, 2010 http://zdoom.org/wiki/DECORATE List of DECORATE topics: * DECORATE format specification * Creating non-interactive decorations * Creating new monsters or other complex items * Creating new projectiles * Creating new inventory items * Creating new player classes * Creating new weapons etc. 0 Share this post Link to post

jossiejojo Posted May 5, 2010 I'll have a look at that tree in a second... Should it be straightforward to change an existing graphic - say one of the trees in the doom wad - and to do this without having to change the decorate code - assuming its the same size? I say this because I tried this and it worked except that my new graphic didnt stay in one place - it seemed to follow the player as they ran about... Thanks 0 Share this post Link to post
bytor Posted May 5, 2010 The problem is the sprite offsets. Try giving it the same offset as the tree (or other decoration) you are replacing. 0 Share this post Link to post
jossiejojo Posted May 6, 2010 Is that done within the decorate script editor or with the wad manager eg XWE? Thanks 0 Share this post Link to post
Gez Posted May 6, 2010 Both are possible, but it's a lot simpler to set offset in Slumped/XWE than to use the offset keyword in DECORATE code. 0 Share this post Link to post
