GreyGhost Posted June 4, 2010 One story I'd heard is that the shootings were sparked by a disputed will. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mr. T Posted June 4, 2010 Only 12?! I bet he would've been able to kill a lot more if he had played Doom and listened to Marilyn Manson. 0 Share this post Link to post

Maes Posted June 4, 2010 fraggle said:Stand by for gun rights flame war in 3... 2... 1... We get gun crimes and violent murders even in Greece where weapon owning is strictly regulated. Then again, most of the perpetrators are either: Albanian and Russian mobsters, who don't give two shits about the law and have been known to execute contract hits with as low as Eur. 500, and no sane police officer would ever dare arrest one personally. Cretans, since Crete has a de-facto impunity regime on weapon ownership (and the police is either too scared or has ties with most of the clans, to enforce the law). The only ones who are fucked are normal citizens who aren't Albanians or Cretans and don't own guns, but will be duly fucked by the police for much lesser infractions or for carrying a box cutter in the wrong place. 0 Share this post Link to post
DooMikE Posted June 4, 2010 Oh i wish there was a way to communicate to medias worldwide that this kind of exposure may well be one of the reasons they do it. If persons committing atrocious acts like this, risked extreme public ridicule post mortem, maybe they´d just quietly go hang themselves in the woods or something instead. Obituary: "A disturbingly ugly, deformed, friendless cab driving loser, suffereing from several self inflicted debilitating mental illnesses, shot and killed 12 people today, because he failed at life in general. His ex wife, who for obvious reasons wants total anonymity, stated that her former husband could never function as a man and that his penis looked and only functioned as a second introverted bellybutton, good for nothing other than gathering astounding amounts of cloth fibres, all of which in turn was confirmed by the mortician. No one has claimed the remains, for obvious reasons, and it will therefore be sent to the animal destruction plant, where the end-product will be of more use to humanity, than when this piece of human waste was still breathing. Rest in Anonymity." Or something like that... 0 Share this post Link to post

Scet Posted June 4, 2010 Shootings in the UK must be very rare if they had to shut down a power plant, talk about being overly paranoid. If that happened in North America, we'd be constantly without power. 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted June 4, 2010 Maes said:We get gun crimes and violent murders even in Greece where weapon owning is strictly regulated. The UK already has the tightest gun laws in Europe (perhaps with some piddling exception that someone will probably look up), and possibly the world (maybe Singapore is tougher?). Gun ownership is low and there is no gun lobby with any sort of high profile. Armed crime is relatively rare - regular police don't even carry guns, and will call for armed back-up in cases where they are dealing with armed criminals/suspects. The 2012 Olympics need special dispensation, as the shooting events would be illegal in England otherwise. Events like this are very rare in the UK. But clearly someone who is suitably minded can get a hold of guns, legally or illegally, and go on a rampage like this. 0 Share this post Link to post
geo Posted June 4, 2010 He was a Taxi driver? Didn't he think to mow them all down? When GW Bush was first elected, MSNBC was interviewing Laura Bush because of her school policies. They asked her about keeping kids safe from school shooters, and she said something like "That was a problem of the last administration." The very next news story was a school shooting in progress. 0 Share this post Link to post

Outlawing it doesn't prevent crime. Look at the UK's crime rate. It's out of control. 0 Share this post Link to post
John Smith Posted June 4, 2010 Hey kids. Pro tip. If you're not a resident of the UK, or a frequent visitor, having a bitch fit about its gun laws is fairly retarded. This is mostly an in advance warning because the retardism doesn't look too high as of yet. 0 Share this post Link to post

Phobus Posted June 5, 2010 See, had this have been a (black or asian particularly) teenager in a shithole part of London this would have been largely overlooked as what happens. However, this is in the north, where Hot Fuzz's rule about people in the countryside (everybody and their mum is packing round here) is one of those half-jokes, because the gun would never get used past keeping wildlife away... except it did. Not a lot to be done here really - and on a plus side, at least I now know where Cumbria actually is (not too far north of my current location). 0 Share this post Link to post
Naked Snake Posted June 6, 2010 I'm more well-armed than the average street thug, yet I could never contemplate such a horrible atrocity. I feel for the victims of this tragic assault. 0 Share this post Link to post
