DeumReaper Posted June 25, 2010 from BBC News.A cat that had its back feet severed by a combine harvester has been given two prosthetic limbs in a pioneering operation by a UK vet. The origin of the half-cybernetic skyscraper demon and motherbrains with spider-legs. And the visually advanced dog-torso demon and self-propelled human faces. 0 Share this post Link to post
wildweasel Posted June 25, 2010 I like this. That cat gets to walk again thanks to the marvels of science. I honestly don't care if it ultimately leads to brains-on-legs with plasma guns and vulcan cannons; as long as it means one more kitty gets to, well, be a kitty. =P 0 Share this post Link to post
Aliotroph? Posted June 25, 2010 That looks more like a marvel of engineering. There probably isn't too much science there. Well, maybe the thing about the metal sticking out of his legs. That should be the real story. I wonder what happens if he tries to jump onto things with those feet. I bet he's extremely clumsy at jumping. Cats are funny when they miss jumps. 0 Share this post Link to post
Captain Toenail Posted June 25, 2010 Wow that's cool My only worry is that won't the skin round the metal pegs be very susceptible to infection? 0 Share this post Link to post
DeumReaper Posted June 25, 2010 That's why the prosthetic is such a breakthrough; they've managed to have the cat's skin grow into the metal without the biological rejection/risk of infection. 0 Share this post Link to post
marxr Posted June 25, 2010 Heh, when the guy at the beginning of that video started talking about metal in the kittens leg, I immediately started thinking about this song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJ3emd3phLY :D 0 Share this post Link to post
Planky Posted June 25, 2010 They aren't bionic Even still, I was very much 'Awwwww, yay kitty' when I saw this. 0 Share this post Link to post
Sharessa Posted June 26, 2010 Yay! The doctor pking around the metal bit made me feel sympathy pains for the cat, though. 0 Share this post Link to post
