Miserable greek nationalistic milk ad1 from 2008!

In 2008, still under Nea Dimokratia's government, this soft of bitter nationalistic misery sort of flied, and since the national milk industry was under attack because of its grossly inflated price policy compared to the EU mean and practically zero internal competition, the came up with a xenophobic, crassly made ad to murk things up a bit.

A blog analyzing the ad in question is here (Greek only, sorry).

However, the highlight of the ad is this composited video still which shows all "points" and "counterpoints" that ad made in favour of Greek milk:



It's "points" vs "foreign" milk are to the left, while the "counterpoints" for Greek milk are to the right.

Top to bottom they read (for foreign milk):

1. [It comes] from a cow called "Van Dorfen" ("alien sounding", almost repugnant name to sensitive Greek ears!)
   
2. It has been milked by "Genstang" who has never come to Greece (An unfriendly-sounding name, fit perhaps for a gestapo officer. Would it have made a difference if he had came here on vacation?).
   
3. [It comes] from an alien, northern city called "Gütersloh"
   
4. [It comes] "from somewhere"
   

And the counterpoints:

• [It comes] from a cow called "Vasoula" (friendly sounding "good girl's" or settled-down housewive's name!)
  
• It has been milked by Giorgos who lives in Greece (they even fucked up the wording, as "lives in Greece" means Giorgos could be Albanian or a Russki for all I know).
  
• [It comes] from one of our own Greek village, called "Platy Imathias".
  
• [Comes from] here.
  

The icing on the shitty-cake of this really miserable attempt at capitalist on a (supposed) xenophoby, was the small-letters print in the last frames of this ad, which said that specified "Does not apply to small 170 gr. containers", meaning that those did NOT have 100% Greek milk. Truly sad.

This ad really made me tick because being half-Italian, I had to put up with this sort of miserable regionalistic crap throughout my life.

Those two glasses are exactly the same, image wise. Milk is only $1 a quart over here. Milk is also regulated by the state to a fixed price, so no matter which brand of milk you buy it's the same exact price everywhere in Jersey. At least it should be.

Quite the opposite here. Milk price is unregulated, producers typically sell it to milk industries at prices that vary between 20-40 eurocents/litre (with a tendency to decrease), but for consumers the price skyrockets to 1.20-1.50 Euros/liter, with a tendency to increase, in most retail outlets.

Some discount markets like LIDL have it at a more reasonable 70-80 cents/liter (BTW, prices are referring to fresh milk, UHT and partially condensed milk is cheaper)
