Nomad Posted November 27, 2010 Is there a way to dump a list of used textures in a map? For example, a map I'm working on is using resources from two different resource wads and I would like to be able to grab just those textures and put them in the finished product wad. Is there a simple way to do this? 0 Share this post Link to post

RjY Posted November 27, 2010 deutex has a "-usedtex" option. However it only reports textures, not flats... There does seem to be a gap in the market here for such a utility. I wonder what The Green Herring uses when he compiles community wads? 0 Share this post Link to post
Vermil Posted November 27, 2010 XWE has the opposite option; It can list all unused textures in a wad. Located in the file menu, it will dump the names in a txt file on the root of the hard drive XWE is installed on. 0 Share this post Link to post

Click on 'PWAD Lump Arranging and More'. Then select the PWAD from the explorer window. The PWAD content pops up. scroll to MAPxx Then click on 'Textures used in 1 Level' and the list comes up. If an external editor, eg Notepad++, had been assigned, then click on 'External Viewer'. Yeah, I heard the argument before, But you have to pay for Deepsea. However, that is only true if you want to save a map which is larger than the shareware limit. All the other utilities build into Deepsea are functioning without restrictions. While SLADE 3 is quite nice, and I use it often, it has a long way to go before it can rival Deepsea in functionality. 0 Share this post Link to post

I don't know if it will ever feature everything Deepsea and XWE have; superseding them both is not really planned; its mission statement is merely superseding Slumped (done) and Slade 2 (far from it). But it already has some features that Deepsea and XWE do not have. 0 Share this post Link to post
