General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 22, 2011 Here's a Speedmap I made for the holiday weekend. Not Easter themed, but I thought a good way to celebrate a Christian Holiday would be to kill some demons. Enjoy! http://www.mediafire.com/file/ncz6sjccwc64hc5/Speedmap7.wad Edit: Requires Boom behaviour. 0 Share this post Link to post
gggmork Posted April 22, 2011 This game can feel really weird when playing after not playing for a long time. Its like my brain has no memory of the 'floor ice' effect ever having existed where you keep some momentum after stopping, causing me to fumble all around and completely miss shots. I thought I had autorun on on accident or something. The level is short and easy, once you realize you can kill the vile immediately after getting the rl. Died on the fda like usual. 0 Share this post Link to post
General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 22, 2011 Yeah that happens to me too sometimes. Glad you like this map, took me about 25 minutes to make. A UV-speed would be cool to watch. Maybe a max too. 0 Share this post Link to post
gggmork Posted April 22, 2011 Here's a 359 first exit uv max: http://www.speedyshare.com/files/28100765/speedmap7-359-cl9-max-ggg.lmp Speed might be tricky because a vile is blocking a switch, unless you do it not so speedy. I think your maps are fun. Simple, no annoying secrets, little floor height (variation tends to look good but play bad due to things like infinitely tall cacodemons and stupid enemies not being able to walk up steps unless the steps are huge). 0 Share this post Link to post
General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 22, 2011 Nice Demo. Yeah for speedmaps I tend to leave out secrets, but in my other, longer maps I do like to put them in. 0 Share this post Link to post
General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 22, 2011 I made it in about half an hour. I usually spend several days building a map though. 0 Share this post Link to post
verty Posted April 22, 2011 What must I do to open this door (by the rocket launcher)? I think it is just the Vile switch, but it won't open. Help! Demo showing the problem. 0 Share this post Link to post
General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 22, 2011 I'm pretty sure I labeled that one the blue door. Go press the switch behind the vile and the room with the blue key will open. 0 Share this post Link to post
verty Posted April 22, 2011 Sorry, I mean the lowering wall that joins the rocket launcher area to the start area. Arrgh, there's 2 of them, I mean the big square one. 0 Share this post Link to post
General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 22, 2011 The switch behind the vile lowers that too. 0 Share this post Link to post
verty Posted April 22, 2011 Have you played my demo? In that demo, I press the switch and the wall does not lower. Wait, I'll make a clearer demo, that one wasn't so clear. 0 Share this post Link to post
General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 22, 2011 You mean the wall next to the teleporter right? Are you using Boom? 0 Share this post Link to post
Grazza Posted April 22, 2011 This requires Boom behaviour. The floor won't lower with vanilla behaviour when there's stuff on it. It works OK with -nomonsters. You should make things like this clear, as people will tend to assume a map works with vanilla behaviour unless they are told otherwise. I've edited your first post accordingly. 0 Share this post Link to post
verty Posted April 22, 2011 I'll just try with a different complevel, back in a sec. 0 Share this post Link to post
General Rainbow Bacon Posted April 22, 2011 Yeah, sorry. I guess I just assume most people use boom. I'll note that stuff in the future. I usually use boom behavior stuff in my maps. EDIT: In fact it does open when I play it. And it opened in ggg's demo too. 0 Share this post Link to post
verty Posted April 22, 2011 Ok, I'll work this out, thanks for looking at this. 0 Share this post Link to post
