Such a great stroller! Amazing to see this happening so soon after E1M3.

E1M5 Stroller in 24:20.49

YES. I've been working on this since E1M3, but 'gave up' a few times due to frustration. I don't even want to know how many hours I spent on this.

The entire map is hard, but the section from the slime pit to the blue key is especially bad. For my strategy it's virtually required to have a spare imp to take down all the pinkies that are blocking the tiny hallway. It's definitely possible to do this map a lot faster, but slow and steady seems to work the best for me, I guess. Huge thanks to @megasphere308 for discussing/sharing strategies, including segmented runs to keep me motivated. Honestly, if you didn't message me on Discord yesterday I'm 100% sure I never would've touched this map again.

It's done, congrats !! Another table filled :)

Slow and steady won the race again, it seems! GG Vytaan. You make it look like it's easy to just walk around monsters and not get hit. Interesting strategies. That imp had some work to do! The end is positively frenzied compared to the rest of the run. I love the last strategy to just teleport the monsters away. I would've used that too.

In my mind I was joking that at this rate we'll have E1M7 by next weekend and we actually do, now. Incredible, once again. Such beautiful movement! Some scary moments with 3% and 8% health. Did you keep a mental count with all the monsters, like knowing which room has which left, or did you just go around and see? The ending was great, with all the precision and safety before it, just going for the exit... So good to see these strollers done.

This inspires me to get more technical (and patient) with my strolling. I feel like Vytaan and Ancalagon have just upped the game in the past month! E1M9 next week?

Also, cool stroller Tobby! Very clean.

Only kept track of shotgunners as zombies don't do much and the rest you can dodge, was still surprised by a shotgunner behind the yellow doorr when I thought they were all dead so I still failed at that. For the end room there's a convenient barrel that clears most of the enemies at the switch and once you press it you can go back to the blue door to spam it until everything but 1 monster die, but I had enough hp left to just go to the exit.

The initial plan was to take the sphere after taking the red key so you can also take the medkit at the key and then use the sphere secret to go to the red key door, grab the invis and do the exit quick, but my hp was too low and I had to grab the sphere before it was planned, with so many doors to abuse the only hard part is the section until all shotgunners in the first room are dead, and I am sure doing the walk that way can give a much faster time.

Wow, incredible run!! Last night you said you wouldn't try E1M7 lmao, did you get this that quickly afterwards? What a surprise :D

Those colored doors come in clutch - so did the imp that took down the shotgunner when you were at 3% health heh. Great infighting around that central area in general with how the zombieman and shotgunner got neutralized for quite a while too!

Very well done once again and thanks for saving me from having to grind this map 😅

Yeah I only looked at the map after you said that taking the yellow key is the worst part, and when I saw the doors I realized the map had to be doable.

So smooth! Love it when a door is made just in time.

That's a really good time! I feel so annoyed for not posting my 1:05.17, which I got back in February, soon after getting my E2M3 nightmare-stroller... I got it fairly easily because I had just run the map about 5000 times on nightmare. But I kept forgetting and now it's too late.

E3M4 nightmare-stroller in 2:22

n3m4str222.zip

When I started nightmare-strolling I ruled this map out because of the room with the switches and small rooms with the two keys that is so fiendish on stroller because the imps just block the way almost every time. As I got better at nightmare-strolling, my new knowledge of it didn't update my old thoughts. Then, randomly, I happened to think of this map, and if there might be a way to alert the imps and get them out of the room. I started investigating and found out that it could be done, although staying alive long enough was not going to be easy. Then, I investigated more and realized the obvious: because this is nightmare-stroller, the imps will more or less stay in their shooting positions. I started testing the infamous room and realized it was actually quite easy on nightmare-stroller, if one only reached the invincibility. (Getting to it was the hardest part of this run.) As the imps walked in loose clusters, and stayed so after sighting the player (unlike on UV-stroller where they'll keep advancing and soon blocking), it meant I could weave through the gaps in their midst. That, and the potential crazy infighting that always gets going on nightmare.

I started routing and the attempts slowly started crafting my route. Slowly, the percentages and odds started giving me better chances of survival and progression.

The caco in the exit room is what scared me the most. Fortunately I found a viable strategy for it, but I sort of forgot my practice and opened the door for too long and immediately got hit. I started panicking a little and just went for it. Technically I got killed and the corpse fell into the exit (happened in my practices of this room, too). Heh.
