I know that this thread is for Hell Revealed 1 Demos, but sorry I couldn't find the Hell Revealed II -complevel 2 thread on Doomworld

Here's map 12 tysoned. Would be faster to get all keys and release all sheep immediately, but that's too hard for me.

This is the ultimate "abuse" demo. Don't watch if you're not doing something else at the same time, like eating. But it shows nicely how absurd this map is.

Oh Jesus do I hate HR2. It's one of the cheatest wads of all time. Man is it unforgiving.

To elaborate on this, map 04 is cheat as f#ck with that stupid AV jump to UV-Max. Not that hard of a level except for the AV-jump that will take you 50,000 times to get right.

HR2 map 06 tysoned. The cyber is in a nice position, so that it can be aggroed through the wall by projectiles. I discovered it by accident, but it took me a while to realize that after damaging the cyber, it can be easily trapped and punched. It is easy to forget to use all the tricks available. The pain elementals ruined many runs by causing a mess. This time everything went nicely, although I was really afraid of the revenants, because this was the first time I survived up to the yellow door.

HR2 map 04 is now tysoned. One of the hardest tysons I've finished, even though the map has only 64 monsters.

HR2 map 05 tysoned. Again, one of the hardest tysons I've done. The map has only 52 monsters, but it took some grinding to survive the first twenty seconds. Finding the route was not obvious either. If we do not plan the infights carefully, we will run out of bullets. Funnily, there is a familiar theme with the hell knights and the door.

First 16 maps maxed on HNTR instead of UV (isucklol). All of those runs are very improvable, but at least they all beat their respective UV-Max records to varying degree, except for 07 - I don't have enough patience to grind for surviving Mancubus intro, pulling the rocket jump off, banking on the two shotgunners in cages hitting two separate spiders to get themselves killed AND praying the damn zombies won't take a minute to crawl their asses through the teleporter, which happens more often than not.

Will try to finish the second half by the end of January.

Second half maxed on HNTR. Slacked off a lot when it comes to grinding better times on some of those, but got all benchmarks I aimed for and nothing looks too ugly.

MAP31 UV-Max in 8:29, PrBoom+ v2.5.1.5 -complevel 2

I swear I've seen a video on Youtube sometime around 2010-2012 that used very similar strats to the ones I employed here and might've been even faster. I think the player took Megasphere and killed Arch-Viles without invulnerability, then later was pressing all switches while running through Cyberdemons and killed the last one unprotected just by hugging him. But the video seems to be gone and there's no corresponding demo on DSDA.

Haha, nice! Your small miscalculation error mentioned in the .txt is hard to notice, very nice, "anticipating" weapon switching in the elevator and LOL at the cyberdemon #4 dying.

Autoswitch to Chaingun is something that I'm well aware of and there is usually one laying around right at teleport destination with the ~1:15 teleport timing I've settled on (this is usually the point Cybie is stuck fighting a couple Barons, open for backstabbing with BFG), but I've never tried the usual "switch to something else, then press 7 instantly upon picking up to avoid a second switch" approach to remedy this because there's an offchance you'll pick one a second later and have to do three weapon switches instead. But it's just an autoscroller so w/e, more importantly I forgot doing this on final Berserk pack and lost a second or two there.

A less noticable nuance is me doing a little dance around Megasphere in elevator to take some free damage before healing myself to max.

Hell Revealed II full WAD HNTR-Max in 2:29:44, PrBoom+ 2.5.1.5, -complevel 2

 

Second full run attempt that made it past MAP04 (first one died to a hilarious softlock in MAP11). A mostly unrouted trial run. I had a long-term goal of getting a time below 150 minutes, didn't expect to get it straight away.

Sorry, but it's not happening, at least by me. Playground on HMP is barely easier than on UV, I have no chance of single segmenting it at my current skill level, let alone in a full run. A couple other maps also have some heavily RNG-dependent sections introduced in HMP that could instantly kill me with a single mistake.

At this point I'm just going to leave HR2 behind and move on, unless I feel like improving either MAP31 UV-Max or full WAD HNTR-Max.
