Clonehunter Posted July 3, 2011 Choose your Fighter! Perhaps my most favorite piece from any Video Game: 0 Share this post Link to post
Fulgrim Posted July 3, 2011 Killer Instinct has some of my favorite video game music. Even on the SNES the music was great. The KI 2 had some good music also. I still prefer the tracks from the first game. Its to bad we will never get a KI 3. 0 Share this post Link to post
Xeros612 Posted July 3, 2011 Time to post a few more favorites! I'll just list them in text because I'm uploading right now and the remaining bandwidth isn't friendly to much more than forum browsing. Anyways: -Killer Instinct (Thanks to Satyr000 for inadvertently reminding me!) -Batman: Arkham Asylum (Despite never actually playing the game myself and the fact that it's obviously synth-orchestra instead of the real thing, it's got some pretty damned great tracks.) -The Darkness (Orchestra + metal? I'm in.) -Crysis 2 (Catchiest/easiest-to-get-stuck-in-your-head main theme of any game I've heard.) -Gears of War series -Most of the Call of Duty series (Sean Murray's[if that's the right name I'm thinking of] work in WaW and BO leaves a lot to be desired for the most part, but the other composers IW/Treyarch have worked with have made some damn good soundtracks.) -Wolfenstein 2009 -Bioshock series -Metro 2033 -S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games (mostly the first one) -Marvel vs. Capcom/Street Fighter games (I couldn't care less about the games themselves, but the fighting themes are pretty damn good.) -Magicka -Witcher 2 (Another game I haven't actually played that has synth-orchestra music, but it's really good, despite the tracks being very short.) -Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers/MMPR The Movie: The game(Some really nice rock tracks and good renditions of the main theme, given the hardware.) 0 Share this post Link to post
DoomUK Posted July 3, 2011 Mr. Chris said:Silent Hill It's too bad Akira Yamaoka has stopped working on future Silent Hill games. Though the series has become a little stale for me, it's still got a magnificent soundtrack. Btw, there's an awesome fansite which lets you listen to every single piece of music (including all the dark ambient stuff) featured in every single game of the franchise:- http://www.silenthillmemories.net/music/sh1_osts_en.htm Pretty neat. 0 Share this post Link to post

Ultraboy94 Posted July 3, 2011 Besides the Doom soundtracks, many of the classic Sega tracks are the best (Most things before the horrible rock/pop stuff they used in Sonic since Sonic R...) Then, there is the Phantasy Star IV soundtrack... Yeah, sorry for the huge post. 0 Share this post Link to post

lazygecko Posted July 4, 2011 My weakness is cheesy upbeat shmup music They'll put a smile on your face, even when you've just had your arms amuptated. 0 Share this post Link to post
ArmouredBlood Posted July 4, 2011 Metroid prime menu select Phazon mines from mp - I've wanted to find a midi like this for a map for a loooong time F-zero GX - phantom road. The soundtrack for this game is awesome. F=Zero GX - deathborn's theme. Another one I want a good midi of Age of mythology - chocolate outline. The whole sountrack is pretty nice, glad I have it. HoMM3, full of symphonic emotion. Just about every faction has a cool song. might and magic 7 - barrow donws/land of the titans music. mm7 - titan's fortress. Favorite of them golden sun: dark dawn -belinsk ruins. One of my favorite pieces from the game, and a pretty cool dungeon. GS:Lost age - mars lighthouse. Used it in newgothic, heh. Magma rock, from above GS game. 0 Share this post Link to post
hex11 Posted July 4, 2011 Ah yeah, F-Zero! What a great game, and sweet music. Also liked Secret of Mana and Jaki Crush. 0 Share this post Link to post
chungy Posted July 4, 2011 One of the most energetic NES tracks: A rock cover of it is also my ringtone :P 0 Share this post Link to post

Janizdreg Posted July 22, 2011 40oz said:Contra Shattered Soldier - FortressOh my, now that's some hardcore riffing action right there. I gotta check out this soundtrack right now. Very nice picks so far, numerous favorites of mine have already been mentioned. Here's a few more, in a rough order by game release: Castlevania 3 (Japanese version), first level. Both atmospheric and catchy, mmm. DuckTales, African Mines. Just plain groovy, fun and cutesy melody heaven. And to hypnotize yourself with a minimalistic but effective beat, go for this Battletoads classic: Jurassic Park (NES), level 1, a hidden game in the NES music library. This game sports some serious tunage with songs perfectly capturing the essence of being in a jungle with looming prehistoric monsters everywhere around you. TMNT Turtles in Time, Super Shredder. Frantic, adrenaline-pumping and sporting a killer melody. Maybe my biggest boss tune favorite ever. NHL 96 PC, menu music. Somehow the '96 installation of the series ended up being my most played and loved one. The PC version sported some ballsy hard rock music, which always got me in the mood of kicking the ass of the puck and the opposing team even harder. GTA2, Taxi Drivers. Mauling those pesky taxi drivers while an anthem about killing them plays on the radio? That's GTA2's disturbed beauty in a nutshell. Oni, Konoko Chase. This track nails the scifi action thematic accurately and with style. No One Lives Forever, Main Theme. Cheesy nostalgia spy game with cheesy humor has to have an over-the-top secret agent theme. And this game certainly does. Ollie King, The Concept of Love (The Concept of Passion Mix). This track is so all over the place that it can barely contain itself. Crazy beats and electro whackiness, which I could not not dance to like a madman if a DJ ever played it anywhere. Team Fortress 2 theme. Catchy and upbeat quality stuff in the vein of classic action/adventure theme songs. Castle Crashers, Simple Sight. Kick-ass synth guitar riffs and a brooding atmosphere define this cool boss fight track. Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game, Shrine Bros. I'm quite a chiptune music lover, and this chiptune rock track (along with the rest of the Scott Pilgrim game soundtrack) is among the very best modern chiptune compositions in my book. It takes the unique NES sound and uses it in imaginative ways to create mesmerizing and highly creative tunes. 0 Share this post Link to post
Csonicgo Posted July 24, 2011 Robocop 3. ALL of it. Still kicks my ass to this day. 0 Share this post Link to post
cbronson Posted July 24, 2011 I've always been a sucker for videogame music. It's easier to pick the ones I don't like than the other way around. Anyway, this is awesome: 0 Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted July 31, 2011 Oh I forgot this one. As soon as I had a phone that could save an mp3 as a ringtone I set it to this. 0 Share this post Link to post

Damn you, now I have about ten tabs open of just these games' music. :P For some reason, I only ever remembering this song in the sound test in LA's arena room: Some of the best battle music I've heard in any RPG, using the best soundfont I've ever heard in a portable system, and the only JRPG series I can look at today and still think "I'd like to play this". A few other favorites: (C&C: RA3 is another one of those games I've never played but still feel has an amazing soundtrack.) 0 Share this post Link to post

Heh, that was my first Game Boy game ever, and I let my mom play it a lot. She made up words for that music. "This is the place where fish are flyin' up my butt..." :P 0 Share this post Link to post
DuckReconMajor Posted July 31, 2011 In my younger days I'd play to World 2 just to press the Game Boy up to my ear. I'd have probably slept that way if it weren't for those damn level timers. 0 Share this post Link to post
