Duke Of Nubia Posted July 2, 2011 Hey guys I created a map I don't know how or where to upload it I just wanted to get some feed back and see what people thought of it here are some screens. NB: Mixes flats and textures, so will only work with ports, such as Zdoom, which support that. http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/Duke_Wooze/Screenshot_Doom_20110702_051952.png http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/Duke_Wooze/Screenshot_Doom_20110702_051940.png http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/Duke_Wooze/Screenshot_Doom_20110702_051929.png http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/Duke_Wooze/Screenshot_Doom_20110702_051901.png http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/Duke_Wooze/Screenshot_Doom_20110702_051842.png http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee213/Duke_Wooze/Screenshot_Doom_20110702_051804.png If I linked these incorrectly please let me know. Duke Of Nubia Posted July 2, 2011 I wanted to make this map as the first in a small series of maps in one episode so, since this is the first map it should be easy and in this level in particular I wanted it to be a pistol only map. Please feel free to give any input and feedback. Enjoy! 0 Share this post Link to post
hex11 Posted July 2, 2011 prboom v2.4.7 don't like it... R_FlatNumForName: METAL not found 0 Share this post Link to post
Duke Of Nubia Posted July 2, 2011 Oh yeah that I don't know too much about because I only tested this on zdoom. Maybe someone else can clarify this error? 0 Share this post Link to post
Vermil Posted July 2, 2011 You used a wall texture as a flat. The original Doom didn't allow texture/flat mixing. Some ports, like Doomsday and ZDoom, added the ability to use flats as textures and vice versa. 0 Share this post Link to post
hex11 Posted July 2, 2011 It might be nice if the editor software warned about this kind of thing. Maybe pop up a dialog box that says "If you do this, your map won't work in regular Doom ports. Are you sure you want this?" That way at least newbies are aware of the constraints and can make a conscious, deliberate decision of which target to map for. Or maybe it already does that and nobody notices. I don't know... I use Yadex only. 0 Share this post Link to post
Duke Of Nubia Posted July 2, 2011 I kinda agree. It would be nice to have been warned about this. 0 Share this post Link to post
Nomad Posted July 2, 2011 I'm liking this. Reminds me of Dutch Devil's work, in a good way. 0 Share this post Link to post

I use Yadex only. In Doom Builder, texture/flat mixing and other source port features only are made available when you set your map's format/configuration to a source port that supports them. Of course it's not going to prevent someone from manually typing in "STARTAN3" on the ceiling if they really want it though :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Duke Of Nubia Posted July 3, 2011 Oh I see. I did set it to zdoom in Hexen format. 0 Share this post Link to post
