The amazing "identify that Doom song" thread.

Recommended Posts

My quest to find all the music used in Epic 2 is almost complete, but there are still three songs left to find out! Just a quick update because I have had some answers since last time I posted this.

Map 09: http://puu.sh/p3BUz/f7a416abfa.ogg

Map 20: http://puu.sh/tcdgI/d2b186a141.ogg

Map 25: http://puu.sh/p3C12/edb3414fbb.ogg

If it helps at all, the music for map 25 was also used in map 08 of the WAD "Heroes 2". I hope I can get these last few tracks someday!

Map 20:

Your soundfont/driver is sharp or flat on all notes, volumes on instruments are messed up, and some instruments start briefly and are suddenly silenced, making the other two nigh unidentifiable for me

I believe that it's an original from this:

Thank you both very much, I can't believe I got these answers so soon!

Firstly, I noticed that the single map of "BLOOD.WAD" was selected as part of Heroes 2, but as Map 14 and strangely not the same map as where the music from the WAD is used. Secondly, I had a feeling there would be more Final Fantasy tracks to appear as answers, but I haven't had the time to flick through all the soundtrack of each game :P and thanks for the heads-up on the soundfont, I had absolutely no idea and I always thought it was completely fine.

Now there's just one single piece of music left in this entire megaWAD to identify, and rather ironically on the map titled "Mystery". I hope I manage to get this last one!

Have you tried emailing the author? He might just respond as he still uses that address.

03 - "Hellero" from Rise of the Triad
04 - ?
05 - ?
06 - ?
07 - ?
08 - Tangerine Dream - Too Hot for My Chinchilla
09 - Pearl Jam - Garden
10 - ?
11 - The Shamen - Ebeneezer Goode
12 - ?
13 - [same as 04]

Still many mysteries...

Sounds like something that started as a remix of The Healer Stalks. If the NewDoom forums still existed one could try to see if there were any hint from the discussion there.

What is that Nine Inch Nails song with piano that is used everywhere? Like in Dark Resolution, Slaughterfest, etc.

I don't recognize it either. It's not from Doom, so it must have been from a random MIDI website.

MAP11 music is identical to MAP02 music from this wad and the .txt says "Vital (aka Tony) - Zoetic (zoetic@mindless.com)"

D2INO's D_AMPIE?

Only metadata hint is that the MIDI was likely written by someone who speaks Spanish ("Pista", "Percusión"). No title, composer, or sequencer unfortunately.
