Looking for some old E1 replacement

I'm looking for some old E1 replacement which I played in 1997-1998. I remember two things: architecture was interesting and good (for those standards) and secret map E1M9 have dark, metal theme with some cylindrycal, narrow sectors.
I searched a little bit of wads from 1994-1997 and on this day I know this is not: Infinity, Return to Phobos, Fava Beans, Requiem and Dawn of the Dead.
Does anyone have any ideas?

You sure it was E1? A lot of early complete episodes were for E2 or E3. Some other possibilities: sudtic, teutic, cleim10, njdoom. Maybe even one of the wadpak's?

This is a long shot, but it sounds like EP4B.WAD from Maximum Doom.

Hmm, E1M1 looks familiar... Maybe some of the maps in this episode can be traced to original ones that were released seperately.
