xvertigox Posted July 21, 2011 This is taken from a post from reddit.com]Reddit but I thought people here would be interesting in seeing it. It's screen caps from an old BBS relating to the new game Doom. Here is the original thread and here are the pictures: http://i.imgur.com/1PQNS.png http://i.imgur.com/o9SgB.png http://i.imgur.com/9RmlW.png http://i.imgur.com/xeUKZ.png http://i.imgur.com/7rYZw.png Re: Doom 2 http://i.imgur.com/T8hpM.png I thought this was pretty cool. 1 Share this post Link to post

DoomCup Posted July 21, 2011 Man, I remember those days, when you couldn't use your phone and your internet connection at the same time. Man do I not miss that :p 0 Share this post Link to post
cbronson Posted July 21, 2011 Wow, the first time I played it I was just like the guy from the third picture, I didn't know what a door was! When I found out, I thought I was the only moron in the planet, until now... :) 1 Share this post Link to post
Clonehunter Posted July 21, 2011 I can see people were already throwing Wolf3D out the windows. It sounds like Hate for the game now that something better is out! 0 Share this post Link to post
Guest Posted July 21, 2011 I liked the poem from this page, which was linked to off the main page above... "Twas the night before DOOM." It's not high art, but it is vaguely amusing. [edit] Heh, reminds me of another fine work of literature by, well, erm, me. [shameless plug!!] 0 Share this post Link to post

Back in the day, the rule of thumb was to allow about a Meg an hour for a download. Thanks for posting xvertigox. Cheers. Really takes me back. It has been a real buzz reading through that old thread. 0 Share this post Link to post

Which is what all of the PC game press would do for the next several years against Doom. Every decent FPS ending up being a "Doom Killer." I remember playing Blake Stone *after* having Doom and still enjoyed it immensely. Fun is fun, dated or not. 0 Share this post Link to post

Du Mhan Yhu Posted July 23, 2011 That's funny that person could not figure out what to do. I remember when I first ever played Underhalls (map02) I couldn't figure out how to get across the gap to get up to the red key. 1 Share this post Link to post
