Zulk RS Posted July 7, 2015 I like the stock Doom 2 textures for mapping. 0 Share this post Link to post

My phone started ringing when my call tone was doomguys second scream during a moment of silence for fallen firefighters at my buddy's graduation ceremony for the fire academy. I have no regrets. 0 Share this post Link to post
taufan99 Posted July 7, 2015 I actually like Running from Evil and The Healer Stalks. I prefer the song Dark Halls to They're Going to Get You for Deimos Lab and Kitchen Ace (and Taking Names) to Demons on the Prey for Command Center. 0 Share this post Link to post

NoXion Posted July 7, 2015 I have a tendency to scream like a little girl like when I suddenly and unexpectedly run into a Cyberdemon. 0 Share this post Link to post
Hoodie Posted July 8, 2015 40oz said:Title of the background music for MAP02 Underhalls, MAP11 Circle Of Death and MAP17 Tenements. Yes okay I know the name of the songs in Doom 2, I just can't understand why someone would like d_stalks. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jaxxoon R Posted July 8, 2015 I like it. I like it because I like Salsa and Folk music. Deal widdit. 0 Share this post Link to post
Hoodie Posted July 8, 2015 It's not even a good salsa and/or folk song. (Also, folk?) If it was just the drum and bass, or if it had a deeper riff, it would be fine. But it doesn't even sound like a song in Doom, shit is wack man. This is like if someone told me they liked d_ampie. 0 Share this post Link to post
Dave The Daring Posted July 8, 2015 Hoodie said:shit is wack man. Wack indeed. I dislike most of Doom's MIDI music, but then I've never really been a fan of MIDI in general. I think it's because the technology was used to produce so many shit pop songs over the years. 0 Share this post Link to post
Krazov Posted July 8, 2015 I always took for granted that the title “The Healer Stalks” is connected to the first appearance of Archvile in the game. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jaxxoon R Posted July 8, 2015 The soundtrack of the first two Doom games are a mishmash of juxtaposed metal, moody orchestra, and bizarre MIDI fever dreams. I've kind of gotten used to it by this point. I'm also surprised it took so many people this long to realize "The Healer Stalks" has to do with the Archvile. From the first time I saw the official names of the songs at 12 years old I assumed that "The Healer" part had to do with the healer monster. 0 Share this post Link to post
BaronOfStuff Posted July 8, 2015 But why use D_STALKS on MAP02, long before an Arch-Vile appears? 0 Share this post Link to post
scifista42 Posted July 8, 2015 Perhaps the song was made for an Archvile intro map (or assigned to it, and then named) before it was decided that MAP02 would use it as well. 0 Share this post Link to post
Hoodie Posted July 8, 2015 I thought everybody already believed in scifista's answer for the origin of d_stalks... 0 Share this post Link to post

SavageCorona Posted July 10, 2015 I've never actually beaten Plutonia or TNT without cheating. Honestly with the cookie cutter Icon of Sin bossfights it's not worth it in my book to try either. 0 Share this post Link to post
Doomkid Posted July 10, 2015 Hoodie said:This is like if someone told me they liked d_ampie. I dunno dude, when I was still in single digit age, that song made me tense. A little creeped out even, yet also pumped up at the same time. I thought it fit the insane, hectic mood of the entire map. It's a little annoying on repeat, but it did it's job well and I don;t mind it by any means, even these days. 0 Share this post Link to post
Noiser Posted July 10, 2015 I think the salsa thing in Stalks it is there for represent some urban, "earthly" setting. I actually like it too, it's ambient and straightforward. 0 Share this post Link to post
Krazov Posted July 10, 2015 I started imagining a real salsa band performing the composition. 0 Share this post Link to post
peach freak Posted July 10, 2015 Sometimes when walking around in Boston, I won't be able to find the address of a building I am looking for. So I'll take out my phone, open the Maps app, and put in the address. On the Maps app, there is a blue arrow representing you, and it turns as you turn the direction of your phone. So I'll keep the arrow pointed in the direction I need to go in and work my way towards the destination. During this time, I pretend I am playing Doom in real life and that I am using the Automap. 0 Share this post Link to post
Fonze Posted July 10, 2015 Lol, now we're all gonna need an automap version of Google earth... Programmers wanted. 0 Share this post Link to post
Jaxxoon R Posted July 11, 2015 I've just got a great idea, Morty. Y'know how polyobjects are all infinite-height unless you use Zdoom, in which case you have the capability to give them fixed-height collision/graphics but they're all see through in the top? Well, what if some genius made a 3d model of a door that was the exact same size as the polyobject, applied it to a pass-through actor, made the polyobject invisible, and have them on a script that made the 3D model animate as the polyobject moved? Then you'd have a detailed model going about with the polyobject serving as collision, that's what you'd have. It'd be great, Morty. 0 Share this post Link to post
Panteruh Posted July 14, 2015 I know I am way late to the party but as far as the song "The Healer Stalks" goes.. Well, I can't play the maps that use it without being completely reminded of https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccenFp_3kq8 (Starting about the 1 minute mark)... and for some reason... Hall and Oates really seems to be ironic music to be listening to when blasting demons... hah 0 Share this post Link to post

Was a huge apartment orgy/creampie/bukkake fest of some sort. any time I hear it while running through doom 2, I can't help but think of that. I'm almost certain someone at id had done this as a joke, as the music was tune-for-tune spot on, its just... I can't remember the name of that flick. Was some VHS tape we found in a buddies dad's closet. 0 Share this post Link to post
