where can i get a copy of doom palette?

I want to make skins for my MD2 models, but the eitor I'm using comes with only quake.pal. Where can I get a doom.pal which I can rename to quake.pal for use with that editor?

A quick guess would be to take a Doom screenshot, and then take the palette from it using PSP or something, but I'm not sure if it will be the same format of palette. You could try the program you have, and see if you can take a custom palette from a screenshot.

There is one supplied with XWE. http://doomworld.com/xwe Just rename it from doom.act to doom.pal.

I tried that, but I didn't think it would work, and I got an error. But I think I did it wrong, and I gave up right away because I thought the conversion didn't work. Well thanks for confirming my theory!

Now that I've gotten everything working, i want to make skins. What program should I use to save a skin as .pcx using the right pallete?

You can use IrfanView http://irfanview.tuwien.ac.at/english.htm to load (almost) any image format and save it as PCX. It's an small, excellent viewer (and more). It's worth the download.
