ellmo Posted August 25, 2011 No, it's not a porn movie. It's a little personal project I started working on while taking a break from DTWiD. Thanks to Esselfortium's Vaporware Demo included in Eternity Engine's Blue box I've taken interest in this impressive source port (add that to fact that EE is the only boom-ish port that works properly on my Linux) and wanted to learn a thing or two about it. Before I realized I was making plans for a new uber coolm multi-episode Total Conversion that would top anything ever made, but I digress... Hereby I present you the first map of the first episode of this project. A demo, if you please. -------- It requires Eternity Engine (I tested it with "Aasgard") and plays with Doom2, despite all of what you might think, it aims for a straightforward Doom gameplay, this means jumping is forbidden (can someone tell me how to disable it with EMAPINFO?) and mouselooking is discouraged. Only one new monster was added (new as in a blue colored imp on crack). -------- The map uses resources from Nightmare's Episode5, his Recolored Doom textures, Doom1 textures for Doom2 by Sargebaldy (I think), a few edits from Ogro and a few snowy textures from Blood, one from Hexen. It also includes Per Kristian's smooth weapon animations, ported to Eternity by Esselfortium, together with ejecting casings. I'd like to thank Esselfortium, Quasar and Xaser for any and all help with learning Eternity. Operation: Daisy It's been a few years since Doomguy kicked most of hellspawn out of Earth, UAC is no more, so are most of the governments of the pre-invasion world. Still a few organized groups try to preserve some kind of order and serve as the "authority" for the survivors - and that means executing law... Doomguy is not really into law, but the executing part sounds plausible, as there are still some demon butts around Earth to stick a shotgun up. With the help of the "authorities" Doomguy travels around the world, finding them, and mopping the floor... or grass, or pavement with them. Did you really think Daisy's death was avenged when Doomguy went to Hell and back again? No, the revenge has only begun. And your first mission is... Syberian Shakedown <--- download linky A demon outpost has been located somewhere in the snows of northern Syberia. Doomguy will be going solo (he always will). 0 Share this post Link to post
esselfortium Posted August 25, 2011 Cool... no pun intended... I'll check this out when I get home tonight :) 0 Share this post Link to post
skillsaw Posted August 25, 2011 Hey, just played this! I had fun, although it was a bit easy on UV (Understandable if this is the first map). The blue imps were a nice addition, they camoflaged nicely into the map and had me checking corners to be careful I didn't miss any. Minor issues: -I think the snow effect would look better if it fell more slowly -There is a midbar texture floating in the air that shouldn't be there on a cave step at about -1615,78 -there are a few rooms with really bumpy floors in the caves, you should try to flatten them out, the movement in Eternity gets really bouncy 0 Share this post Link to post
Lizardcommando Posted August 25, 2011 This was a pretty cool mapset. That beginning area looked really neat. It was my first time playing with the Eternity Engine. On an unrelated note, Vaporware was pretty cool too. I can't wait to see both these mapsets completed. When that time comes, I think I may have found myself a new source-port to play with. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
phobosdeimos1 Posted August 25, 2011 That was fantastic and had a really nice atmosphere that I rarely find, maybe it was the suspense unfortunately it lagged to around 5ps on my PC which I don't understand as Vaporware didn't lag (a tiny bit on the huge bridge with all the mountains) yet I've played huge open maps on skulltag with no lag so I'm assuming it's the Eternity Engine 0 Share this post Link to post

Maybe I can find some way to "buffer" the snow. 0 Share this post Link to post

You'll have to bug Quasar about it. ;) Odd to have a Dune music in a Doom level. Too bad there's so much white noise at the end and it prevents it from looping correctly. Maybe one of the midicians on this forum could fix that. 0 Share this post Link to post
