Sodaholic's replacement WADs

Recommended Posts

So there are WADs out there used somewhat commonly by the community (resource rips mostly), that I believe could've been done better, as they were not as high quality as they could have been. I've decided to create a series of WADs meant to replace these with superior versions, that I hope will be adopted by the community as replacements to the previously existing WADs.

Here's a list of them:
*PSX sound effects. The WAD most people are using has sounds recorded from in game footage, meaning that they are lower quality than the source sounds, and that they have effects mixed into them ingame (such as echos). You can also hear unrelated sounds going on at the same time as the sound effects (like zombie pain during baron death or something).
*PSX music WAD. The original had low quality rips. I'll wait to do this one when the PSX music format is fully figured out, so I can make modules of them to keep file size down.
*Doom Alpha resource WADs. The problem with the originals is that they had a lot of unnecessary crap in them like sounds, and literally every single graphic in them is damaged. What I mean by "damaged" is that they have lost color detail for some odd reason, and transparency was not handled correctly at all. (everything is vertically off for some reason)

The rest have not been started yet.

The reason being that they were made in an age of darkness and sorrow when SLADE 3 was not yet available.

XWE has known issues with the alpha patch format. Use a different tool to view/extract them.

I already know this, I haven't used that awful program in months. Trust me when I say Dethz0r's alpha WAD has damaged graphics.
