What's with all the symmetrical monster placement?

I get an erection when looking at a symmetrical map in Doom Builder. They just look so good,

I don't see any problem with symmetrical architecture but yeah you should at least make one side play differently and contain different stuff.
I think maps are pretty good when they have base symmetrical areas but with each side leading off to a different new symmetrical area, if you see what I mean? And you can have secrets or extra compartments on one side of the symmetrical area, and different ones containing different things on the other.

E4M9 is wholly symmetrical but still plays excellently and it contains varied thing placement and is quite non-linear. It looks so nice when looking at the skeleton of the map aswell,

I'm certainly all for symmetry to a large extent!
