This weekend, a very close friend of mine is celebrating the anniversary of getting his ass shot up in Vietnam, and somehow surviving. After running afoul of a hostile machine-gun nest and nearly losing his arm, he's had 36 years of what he jokingly calls "borrowed time," over which he's gotten his engineering, master's, and JD degrees, and fathered three children with his wife of 27 years. This man has been through hell and back, and has survived and succeeded despite crippling injuries and a year lost to recovery. Raise a glass for the man, folks.

well seems like he's been doing good after vietnam, he has a wive nearly 10 years younger than him and 3 kids. I would pass up on the kids, but that's a matter of opinion.

/me raises a glass to IMJack's friend, and to my own gradfather. In 1950, his squad stood a little too close to a bunch of exploding tank shells while training in a German army base. Virtually all his army buddies got killed, and he himself lost his right arm. He's 71 now but still one of the coolest people I know.
