fawtytoo Posted December 24, 2011 Can anyone explain why: when I make a PWAD with Deutex, when playing, some/all enemy sprites (in the PWAD) don't always appear, and flash momentarily to sprite in IWAD? This happens when I modify someones WAD file to add a dehacked lump, even when the dehacked lump only modifies text. In fact, just extracting the contents of a PWAD and then making it again exhibits this problem. A deutex bug, or something I don't know? This problem only exists with a Vanilla Doom engine, including Chocolate Doom. 0 Share this post Link to post
fawtytoo Posted December 24, 2011 Well, Chocolate Doom seems happy with using -merge instead, but what about vanilla Doom? Any way around this? This happens with Doom II Extreme & Gold. 0 Share this post Link to post
GreyGhost Posted December 25, 2011 Vanilla Doom ignores sprites in PWADs. You need to merge them into your IWAD (back it up first), which is what Chocolate Doom simulates with it's -merge option. 0 Share this post Link to post
fraggle Posted December 25, 2011 Basically, Vanilla Doom doesn't support sprites in PWADs. Before the source code was released an assortment of different hacks were used to make sprite replacements work, but all of them are extremely ugly. 0 Share this post Link to post
