Bucket DM 2 - RELEASE CANDIDATE

They say if you want to get motivated to start on something, it helps to inform people that you're doing it, so there's pressure to deliver. That said, I'm commencing work on version 2 of BUCKETDM.WAD, with 32 eye-exploding levels of Vanilla DM action! It will feature the following:

  • 16 new vanilla-compatible DM levels
  • All your "favorite" levels from the original 16-map kiloWAD
  • Maps made by me from popular community projects
  • All custom music composed and/or sequenced by me
  • Probably a really nifty titlepic
  • Hugs!

Much progress in day 1! Many maps were fixed and adjusted, and now begins the process of chopping up a few others. Due to the OVERWHELMING response to this project, I will be updating the OP with many screenshots such as the ones you see now.

Another update of more pictures of maps in the megawad for playing Deathmatch on Doom on your personal computer!

I'm considering a collaboration if anyone's interested. I think the maps are coming along quickly enough, but my concern is having a good amount of music.

Hey, I actually got some work done tonight. I was going to do the Odamex thing but got caught up in my own stuff. On the bright side, after cannibalizing my old material I figure I have one or two extra maps. That means there may actually be some measure of quality control! Holy crap!

On the dim side, I lost my SD card the other day which had some songs I was working on. Ah, it was slow going anyway. I'll just plunk around when I can and sprinkle in whatever songs I have when the maps are done.

Well, I've been hit with an assload of inspiration lately, so I've made a lot of progress. At this point, I think I've only got one map slot left; the other 31 are at least half finished. There have also been tweaks to the original BUCKETDM maps, but I'm showcasing the new stuff first.

On me it's quite the opposite, if I hype my work I'm more likely to put it on hold, with the logic that now I've posted about it and I'm done.

I would definitely run an Odamex Nitro session with the beta (and then eventually the final version of course) so you could hopefully get a decent amount of feedback. The first BucketDM is one of my favorites so naturally I want to be all over this one :P

I was too scard to say I cant wait to play that one because I thought people would judge me and stuff. I wanna play that map NOW!!!! Please hurry up and release this badboy.

I think its safe to say this wad will rival most other maps for this years cacoward!

I played it and it's a good start, but MAP01 is too much like Military Base to be a coincidence. X-D

I absolutely loved it we played on nitro for 3 hours and it was great fun, I would say the best nitro I have played in
The only major problem was map16 crashing the server
This is wad of the year for me I hope the finished version will be even better

One of the few upsides of the power outage is that I've been spending hours at the local diner, working on MIDI music. Once we get our power back (which I now hear will be Friday at the earliest), I can get back to tweaking the maps.
