Shaikoten Posted January 17, 2012 Hey, DT770s are my gaming 'phones too. Also, Skyrim can use more than 4gb now, it's been patched to allow that. And there were mods to let you use more than 4gb before it got patched. 0 Share this post Link to post

This is my only machine, a Thinkpad T30 rescued from being dumpstered (my previous laptop was actually found next to a dumpster). cpu : Mobile Pentium 4 (1.8 GHz) mem : 512 MB video: ATI Radeon Mobility M7 (output is 14-inch LCD) audio: AC97 disk : 60 GB EIDE It runs OpenBSD (no dual-booting). I usually underclock the cpu to 1.2 GHz (that's plenty enough). Memory usage is also usually under 50%, even with 128 MB dedicated to a RAM disk. It runs all the games I care about (90's era or earlier), and I also occasionally use it for contract work. I'm sure there's probably someone here with an even older machine setup with Win95 or even just plain DOS. So long as they do what you want/need, it's all that really matters. :) 0 Share this post Link to post

And there were mods to let you use more than 4gb before it got patched. The DT770's are indeed excellent, and very comfortable considering their size. Skyrim can't use more than 4Gb, as it's a 32 bit application. However it can use up to 3Gb of adressable space under a 32bit OS, whereas normally an application can only address 2Gb under such an OS. On a 64 bit OS it can use up to 4Gb. http://blogs.msdn.com/b/oldnewthing/archive/2005/06/01/423817.aspx 0 Share this post Link to post

The Lag Posted January 17, 2012 my desktop went fubar, so until i buy some new parts or a completely new pc, i'm using my music production lappy for everyday use...which i don't really like doing, so i restrict what i download, etc. basically: 8 gigs of DDR2 400 gig hdd Dual-core CPU since it is my music production and dj'ing workstation i try to keep the other uses to a minimum. i go online with it and i play quakelive with it. every now and then i download a GOG that i just HAVE to re/play. doom and mapping are on hold until i get a new pc, but it's ok because i needed to take a break from that stuff anyway and i have everything backed-up on an external hdd as well as my net e-mail accounts. 0 Share this post Link to post
