Doom IRC channels?

Sorry if this is somewhere else on this website.

Getting more and more excited for Odamex 0.6 each Monday. I will be picking up the Doom Complete Pack off of Steam in a short while.

With that said, I'd like to know which IRC channels are the best for general Doom chatter, and for organizing pickup/pub games.

Have you tried #odamex on QuakeNet? It's not listed on the wiki or in Bloodshedder's link, but I think the Odamex player community is migrating there.

So rather than a developer channel, it's more of a general community hangout? Or is the OFTC one just falling out of use?

So there's no #doomworld anywhere? How many of the usual suspects from DW hang out in some or all of the channels mentioned in the FAQ then?

The Quakenet channel definitely has a lot more consistent players than the OFTC one, although you can grab a game in both. There were many Doom players already on Quakenet so it only made sense to have a channel there to help get a larger base without forcing them to be connected to two channels at once.

Long story short, "general community hangout" with a nice amount of active players.
