Abstract worlds. Unrealistically large and twisted architecture. Impossibly regular and geometric shapes. I.e., Sunder.

Build a cramped demon invaded bright hi-tech facility map.
The player has to destroy ridiculous numbers of lost UAC machine and
kill a few Shotgun guys which guard a power generator.

Creepy, atmospheric maps like the latter maps of cchest2.wad. Having cool things you can see in the distance like the Eagles Nest map in DVII that has Minas Morgul in the background. And huge architecture like thespire2.wad that takes ages to finish. Those things are winners in my book.

I like maps like ic2004/5 and Vrack, massive high detail tech bases. They look cool.

As a mapper, my rather vaguely tech-base UAC buildings are very easy to make, so I'd say they'd be my "best" setting.

As a player I actually really don't mind. I must have played good and bad maps in most styles by now.
