Koko Ricky Posted July 18, 2012 The dark ambient music from PSX Doom, Doom 64 and Quake 64 was essentially my first exposure to that style. Since then I have occasionally searched for dark ambient music, and most of the time I have been disappointed. Often it gets lumped in with non-ambient industrial music, and it is not uncommon for there to be an accompanying beat. I want to hear music that is as dark, or darker, than the textural, noisy drones of Hodges' work. Any suggestions? The only artist I've heard that comes close is LustMord, who just about perfectly captures what I'm looking for. 0 Share this post Link to post
DoomUK Posted July 18, 2012 A lot of the music from the Silent Hill series might be your cup of tea. 0 Share this post Link to post
jute Posted July 18, 2012 Burzum's ambient albums are pretty dissimilar to the Doom 64 soundtrack. 0 Share this post Link to post
chexwarrior Posted July 18, 2012 Try out Lustmord and Endura (their Black Eden CD). PSX and DooM 64 were also my first exposure to dark ambient and I gotta say I still think its the best. 0 Share this post Link to post
BouncyTEM Posted July 18, 2012 I sort of do music kind of like it. Not completely, though. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/Bitter%20Tension.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/Ambience1.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/Ambience2.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/Entity-Suspense.mp3 if you want to check them out. *shrug* 0 Share this post Link to post
chexwarrior Posted July 19, 2012 Bouncy I really like your stuff. It has a very scifi horror feel. Got more? 0 Share this post Link to post
Mechadon Posted July 19, 2012 Since you mentioned LustMord, check out Maeror Tri. That's some pretty awesome, and dark, ambient that might be similar to what your looking for. 0 Share this post Link to post
TimeOfDeath Posted July 19, 2012 Just wanted to say in general: DoomUK said:music from the Silent Hill series+1000000. DO LIKE. 0 Share this post Link to post
Mattfrie1 Posted July 19, 2012 You should check out some of the songs on discogs.com/Various-Ambient-4-Isolationism/release/72804]this compilation. I think someone has also uploaded most of it to youtube as well. Some of the songs on it I found to be pretty similar to Aubrey Hodges' work, especially the last 3 tracks on the 2nd disc. 0 Share this post Link to post

Yeah, but the other ones aren't *nearly* as good, IMO. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/CeruleanDarkness.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/D_GHOUL.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/D_OLDGHOUL.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/GatewayofHellV1.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/HH12EM.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/HH12EM-Destiny.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/PreviewSong.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/PreviewSong2.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/PreviewSong3-2.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/lotdpreview.mp3 <- that one's decent, though. https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/songwip.mp3 https://dl.dropbox.com/u/3238714/WIPSong.mp3 <- I often have generic names before it's done, but neither this one or the one above it *will* be done, so... :\ <yes, they are different.> 0 Share this post Link to post
StevieWolfe Posted July 20, 2012 Lustmord is really good if you're wanting this style. I put on his stuff all of the time when playing STALKER. 0 Share this post Link to post
