More like just making a joke that is slightly at your expense based on the accidentally misspelling of playing ;) Either way, the GBA port was technologically impressive. Having the game running as well as it did on such a relatively primitive platform took a lot of work. The limitations of the port are unfortunately pretty high though :P 0 Share this post Link to post

betabox Posted August 5, 2012 exp(x) said:GBA Doom II isn't even a port. What am I missing? We're talking about GBA Doom here, aren't we ;) Anyway, I think GBA Doom is pretty good. They actually managed to translate it onto GBA fairly well. It's essentially Jaguar Doom; but it has more stable multiplayer and 8 more (exclusive, no less) levels for deathmatch play. I personally like GBA Doom II better. It may not be a "port", as exp(X) said, but it's a very impressive conversion. 0 Share this post Link to post
xxbio Warfare11 Posted August 5, 2012 Yeah. Ive only seen doom2 gba once in my life and it was only 15$ but sadly i had no money. And when i did have money someone else had allready gotten it :( 0 Share this post Link to post
Average Posted August 5, 2012 When I first saw it I can't tell you how impressed I was that I could play Doom on my GBA... and it felt and played like the real thing. I still regularly play it to this day. I often day dream of someone like Kaiser hacking some new maps into it. Can you imagine playing AV or SID on the GBA?! OR, better still, Doom Builder support for the GBA port. OT: Doom II on the GBA is actually converted onto the South Paw engine, is that correct? That engine is some seriously impressive tech. :) 0 Share this post Link to post
TheUltimateDoomer666 Posted August 5, 2012 I have both DOOM 1 & 2 for GBA. The graphics aren't great, the levels aren't great, the music isn't great, but those are due to the GBA's limitations. Definitely not the worst "ports"; limitations aside, they're actually rather good. However, I don't like the fact they removed the gore and Satanic imagery. 0 Share this post Link to post

Certainly, if done right, it can "work" just as well sometimes, but you can't help thinking it's not the real thing. 0 Share this post Link to post
Porsche Monty Posted August 5, 2012 Porn is the exact opposite of the real thing anyways. 0 Share this post Link to post

On the GBA I was playing Doom 1 on, the colours were so washed out and the resolution so low that it didn't matter much. What mattered was that my ass was repeatedly handed to me on E3M1 and other maps due to having weaker control, and Cacodemons seemed to be faster too, correct? 0 Share this post Link to post
hex11 Posted August 6, 2012 It's playable, just might take you some time to adjust after being used to highres. But now try any SDL port on 80x25 text console via libcaca... 0 Share this post Link to post
