TheGraySpawn Posted August 15, 2012 Hello i'm really new in this map making community. I've been playing Doom since I can remember but i've never made a map before... Here's my first project: RAIN TEMPLE (W.I.P.) http://s1070.photobucket.com/albums/u494/TheGraySpawn/ 0 Share this post Link to post

Pottus Posted August 15, 2012 I have a few suggestions. - When doing lighting build some more sectors around the brightest light sector then create a light level gradient typically sectors are 8px apart and use 2 or more of them - Set upper and/or lower unpegged on your two sided linedefs this will make texture alignment a lot easier - I also notice that your stair case could be improved by sliding the textures along the X-Axis so that they are not all in alignment - Another good habit is splitting linedefs near corners and using a texture in between (SUPPORT3 for example) this can help a lot with alignment since auto-align often can align stuff you don't want, by separating textures like this auto-align will work a lot better since it would usually be just a wall length being aligned. 0 Share this post Link to post

I'd recommend you increase the contrast in lighting in your second screenshot, make the slightly darker sectors more dark If this is your first map don't expect to get it 100% right although from what I can see this does look better than most first maps 0 Share this post Link to post

Krispy Posted August 15, 2012 Try to make it less blocky. Stray from the grid a little. Nobody will notice if a linedef is uneven by a few pixels. 0 Share this post Link to post

I'm adding details now. Thanks for the tips http://i1070.photobucket.com/albums/u494/TheGraySpawn/6d615c33.png 0 Share this post Link to post
