princetontiger Posted September 4, 2012 Are there any good single level or multi-level wads that feature areas where you are walking around on a flat surface and the sky is space? i'm trying to find some that have a cool "space" feel. not ones where you are in a spaceship, but ones where you are "outside" the planet 0 Share this post Link to post
Death Egg Posted September 4, 2012 Epic 2's second act is set in space, a few levels might suit what you're looking for. I'd say check out MAP18. Not really "old-school" since it came out two years ago, but eh. 0 Share this post Link to post
RederickDeathwill Posted September 4, 2012 Interesting.. I'm creating a WAD with EXACTLY this description right now. The player's on a base on a moon of neptune, and the sky is the space with the giant blue planet. I'll post it here in the forum when I finish it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Memfis Posted September 4, 2012 Try this one, it's great http://www.doomworld.com/vb/wads-mods/60972-silisko-industries-lunacy/ 0 Share this post Link to post
princetontiger Posted September 4, 2012 that would be awesome. i'm about 10% the way through Maximum Doom levels for Doom 2, and so far I've seen one wad with a huge open space a ton of cyberdemons. i think it was called BASE122.WAD. but, it features a green sky and nothing close to space. there is nothing cooler than playing some random space-themed wad on a 22" monitor, while listening to some awesome di.fm chillout dreams music. 0 Share this post Link to post
Death Egg Posted September 4, 2012 Oh, another one I forgot about, Base Ganymede. Three entire episodes set on the titular moon of Jupiter. Once again though not that old school... I'm not that knowledgeable in early WAD's I guess. 0 Share this post Link to post
Negostrike Posted September 4, 2012 You might want to check out Pleiades, one of my favorites. 0 Share this post Link to post
princetontiger Posted September 4, 2012 rock on... these are both wads I love!!! thanks! i notice with prboom, some of the textures are weird. which source port do you recommend? 0 Share this post Link to post
Negostrike Posted September 5, 2012 ZDoom or GZDoom for some nice OpenGL makeup. 0 Share this post Link to post
Hellbent Posted September 5, 2012 Equinox is pretty impressive visually although the gameplay an rétard. 0 Share this post Link to post
Megamur Posted September 5, 2012 Hell to Pay has a really neat spacewalk section in one map, but sadly, there's no legal way to obtain that WAD currently. 0 Share this post Link to post
DeathevokatioN Posted September 5, 2012 Lunatic: http://www.doomworld.com/idgames/index.php?id=16551 Technically it's probably not "old school" but it does have a lot of things that made old school Doom wads great such as gameplay and clear cut layouts, just with a clean modern design. 0 Share this post Link to post
Walter confetti Posted September 5, 2012 You searching also some real oldschool maps from 1994 era? If yes, go play the Invade series. It's a real cool mapset, apart from the time it was made... 0 Share this post Link to post
NoneeLlama Posted September 6, 2012 I think AReyeP's Space Platform is just what you're looking for. http://www.areyep.com/RIPandMCS-DoomDukemaps-Main.html 0 Share this post Link to post
princetontiger Posted September 6, 2012 Thanks... Equinox is great. I'm playing through it. I will try the Lunatic/Invade series and the space platform. 0 Share this post Link to post
vdgg Posted September 6, 2012 Hellbent said:Equinox is pretty impressive visually although the gameplay an rétard. No, no, no. The gameplay is excellent once you... oh, just read Creaphis' post Megamur said:Hell to Pay has a really neat spacewalk section in one map, but sadly, there's no legal way to obtain that WAD currently. DSDA hosts the free, abridged version which includes MAP15 you mentioned. http://doomedsda.us/wad584.html 0 Share this post Link to post
kmxexii Posted September 6, 2012 Jim Flynn's Titan series features starry skies, with the freeware levels showcasing Saturn in the background. 0 Share this post Link to post
