printz Posted September 5, 2012 Are there any circular maps worth playing? By that I mean with arc-shaped corridors around a common centre. It's not easy to do in the editor because you need to make sure every vertex is spaced correctly from the centre. I know of Star Wars Doom level 3 but that's old and imbalanced. 0 Share this post Link to post
Phml Posted September 5, 2012 While not exactly what you're asking for, Sunder map10 is fairly close in spirit (you navigate a citadel by slowly circling from the edges to the center). 0 Share this post Link to post
Pottus Posted September 5, 2012 That map is more square than circular but you do "circle" around it. 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted September 5, 2012 Alpha version of E1M6. Technically an octagon, but still. 0 Share this post Link to post
Eregore Posted September 6, 2012 I'm working on a circle map right now for the Doom II map name remake. I got level 11: O' of Destruction. Well, its not entirely circular but it does have a large circular hub, and 4 smaller circular hubs that branch off of that. Lots of circular symmetry to be found. Project is scheduled for release in December i believe. 0 Share this post Link to post
The Ultimate DooMer Posted September 6, 2012 Fragport map 28, the middle is a 32-sided polygon. 0 Share this post Link to post
Xaser Posted September 6, 2012 Every map I make accidentally has a circle in it. Or something that rounds off to a circle. Dodecagons totally count, guys. A whole map based around one, though? Not yet. "Yet" being the key word, probably. :P 0 Share this post Link to post
Blastfrog Posted September 6, 2012 Circles are not possible in the Doom engine. 0 Share this post Link to post

ArmouredBlood Posted September 6, 2012 I based map6 of newgothic around a circle, sort of. 0 Share this post Link to post
Eregore Posted September 6, 2012 The movie pi is tight. I'm pretty sure the guy that drilled his brains out just finished building an geometrically true circular Doom map. Ya, its not 'true 3D', heck its not even a 'true dimension' yet. Just wait: http://www.theverge.com/2012/5/30/3052191/doom-3-bfg-edition-announced-for-the-fall-we-try-it-with-john 0 Share this post Link to post
